  1. Great shave Chris. Stirling soaps provide great lathers every time. They give you 5.8 oz of soap for less than $2.50 US. per ounce. Also, they have a fine selection of scents.

Ok, so I finally brought out my 130 yr old straight razor. It is a near wedge that can plow through 7 days or more of beard growth without any issues. It's overkill when I use this razor on a 1 day stubble. Lol! I decided to use the VdH soap that's in my mug because it produces a rich, creamy and slick lather and the scent is utilitarian that I can use any aftershave. Here's my lather:

I really made a Santa Beard lather, but I added a tiny bit of water to soften it up.
If you are looking for a very inexpensive soap and gives you the lather needed to have a nice shave, then Van der Hagen soap is it.
    Although I only needed 2 passes, I did 3.
My shave was just shy of BBS, however, there were no signs of injury during and after this shave. The alum gave some feedback, but nothing drastic. Witch hazel was applied to calm my skin and finished with a splash of FA Platinum aftershave. Take care.
  13. thank you Joe.:):eatdrink047:i gave it a good wash with shampoo and conditioner the night before.when i took the pic it was fresh out of the box
