SE Sunday shave, September 03, 2023

Razor : Yaqi Excalibur SE 50mm AC type + Yaqi Milano handle - Mfg 2021>, tame mid range. Simple blade clamping system with small head parts(I assemble over a wash cloth works well!). I find this razor gives a very nice shave 95%> of the time and is mostly in my permanent rotation over the last 1.5 years. Had a stellar comfortable close shave this morning.
Blade : Schick proline 50 mm p30 (2) sharp and smooth with reasonable longevity. Good match with this razor for myself.
Soap : Razorock "what the puck" lime, interesting scent with excellent lather qualities. Very affordable quality soap IMO.
Brush : Yaqi "Goblin" 24mm Tuxedo type knot. Excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. Great handle to use and look at and performance is excellent for my shaving needs IMO.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Proraso green lotion with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers= Excellent stellar comfortable close shave with my Yaqi Excalibur shave with a Schick proline p30 blade.

My brother Fernando makes such magnificent soaps and aftershaves - his Peppermint Lime is a treasure. The lime seems to be the more dominant feature in the scent but the peppermint still comes through beautifully, the soap’s tallow formula gives it fantastic lather that’s so thick, rich, creamy, slick as well as protective, the menthol sensation is so potent, and the skincare is brilliant. The Prep delivered so generously on the moisturizing and soothing, while the Peppermint Lime aftershave smells as delightful as the matching soap, its witch hazel formula gives no stinging or burning, and it’s FRIGID. Finally a couple of sprays of the Aramis and I smell so gorgeous and sexy. (According to my wife!) Three passes with my new Astra Green blade gave me a perfect BBS shave that was so easy peasy and enjoyable!

The Ingram Shave Cream lathered well with Ever-Ready C-40 Boar brush. Two passes and touch ups with the No Notch Gillette Super Speed Razor and a Gillette Silver Blue Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Dickinson's Witch Hazel and then Osage Rub. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

SE September + GEMonday, September 4th 2023. "Micromatic Monday" thread, any ASR razor that uses a Gem blade any day of the week welcomed.

Razor : Gem G bar- Mfg 1955-58, tame mid range. Well made to last generations, brass base material with chrome coating. Excellent shave this morning with no issues.
Blade : Gem Personna SS PTFE(5) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle.
Soap : Razorock Orange, nice citrus scent with excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi "ever helpful" 22 mm 2band badger. Excellent lather generator, pillow like soft tips, excellent splay scrubber + great lather painter. This little brush has a short loft with High density knot ideal for folks who like the scrub when lathering IMO.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Italian barber(Razorock) Amici with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= Excellent shave with my Gem G bar with a coated Gem blade.

I was bearded for the past 5 months and decided to shave it off the other day. It seems I'll shave daily for 4 or 5 months, then grow out the whiskers for another 5 or 6 months.

Anyway, today's shave was effortless and nick free. Two pass, minor touch up, DFS. Not rushing into the BBS zone as I recall the last time I shaved it off, I was a tad aggressive on the first couple of shaves and had some irritation post shave.

Tried out a new aftershave today as well. Picked up this bottle of Brut at the drugstore just for grins. I dimly remember using Brut in the early 70's but my lack of scent memory prevents me from comparing. This is the Brut Splash On version for what it's worth. Slight tingle, decent scent, not long lasting. I'll use it daily for a few days and see if it grows on me.
