Thursday's Cold Water Shave Cold Water Rinse Arko Stick Shave Soap Ever-Ready C-40 Boar No Notch Gillette Super Speed Gillette Silver Blue CWR Dickinson's Witch Hazel Pinaud Citrus Musk EDC The Arko Stick Shave Soap lathered well with Ever-Ready C-40 Boar brush. Two passes and touch ups with the No Notch Gillette Super Speed Razor and a Gillette Silver Blue Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. SE SOTD, Thursday, Sept 7th 2023 Razor : Valet auto-strop C1 Canadian variant- Mfg 1920's-30's, mid range. This is a interesting looking razor and it was very popular for it's era and sold millions of them because the owner Henry Gaisman had plants around the world. You can buy blades to this day that will work(Feather FHS-10), I use a modified Gem blade that is superior to other blades that fit this C1 razor. I also modified it a little because the previous owner had the gap to large and just did not take care of it. I had a great comfortable close shave with my Valet auto-strop C1. Blade : Modified Gem blade(3) very sharp, excellent longevity, smooths out nicely, predictable + safest blade to handle (with a spine on it!) Soap : Razorock American barber, sharp parallel unique scent with excellent lather qualities. Aftershave scent is similar but lasts. Brush : Yaqi "Barber pole" 24mm 2band badger, excellent lather generator, pillow like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + great lather painter. Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area. Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups. Post shave : Razorock American barber AS with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless). Results : or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= Excellent comfortable close shave this morning with Valet auto-strop with a modified coated blade. Have some great shaves!
