1. Picked up a Turkey stone this past weekend. Need to flatten it. It is pretty flat now though. [IMG]

  6. Got another cheap one, $58 and change, 200mm x 45mm x 31-32mm. Same kind of reddish kiita like the last one, which is a very nice stone. Seller’s images, wet and dry.

  7. Another nice stone.
Are you going to lacquer it up, and set it in a custom box?

  8. I’ll lacquer it, maybe a wood base. I’ll have to see what fits when it gets here.

  9. This one arrived yesterday, very smooth and fine. Pretty red kan (tree ring) pattern.

  11. Hey Steve, I love the initiative! Consolidating hone discussions into one thread is a neat idea for easy browsing. And that Nakayama sounds like a solid acquisition! Eager to see how it performs. Language barriers can be tricky, but sometimes they lead to exciting finds. Cheers to many smooth shaves ahead! ✌️

  12. My first jnat should be here tomorrow.
Can't say much about it other than the guy I got it from honed on it and made excellent edges with it. Fingers crossed all goes well. 13. First up, two JNats, both a beautiful mizu asagi color with a damascus pattern the smaller one has a ‘raindrop damascus pattern. They’re both from the same seller and I think that they’re the same ore. Same color, same thickness, and both pure - no lines cracks, etc. Must a few flecks of goma. The large one is 187 x 74 x 40, and the smaller one is 140 x 95 x 40. The short length is not an issue as they’re both blazing fast. And they make stupidly good razor exges, very sharp but totally non-agressive, exactly what you want in a JNat edge.

Second up Pennsylvania blue slates that may friend Matt had cut up by a quarry. These are about the color of a dark blue thuri, and they seem very, very, fine. I just got them today so I have no whiskers to shave test yet, but the HHT is great, the hair sometimes doesn’t catch, but when it does it’s silent. It will be interesting to see if these are ‘9-ball’ class. I got an 8x3 and a whopping 9x4 maybe for the knives.I’ll report back tomorrow after a shave with the 9x4 slate edge.

  16. Well, I just acquired @Steve56 's Pennsylvania Blue Slate. It's a big boy at 9x4x1. Smooth as silk, with very fine grains. Reminds me of one of my good hard JNATS, just a little slower.
