  2. Isn’t that the razor whose edge has been challenging you? Any progress?

  3. I sent it out to Scott @DaltonGang and got a new bevel on it but Scott wasn't pleased with it. It shaves just okay now. I think this will be my last shave with it. I bought it for practically nothing years ago. It was a rusty mess. I sanded and then honed it and it was okay for a good while. It just lost its magic somehow.

  4. Or, you got spoiled with all the top tier razors you have been using, and now this one can't compare.

    Saturday Straights' Cold Water Shave

    Cold Water Rinse
Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap
    Jayaruh #446 Badger/Boar
    Henry Taylor
    CWR
    Dickinson's Witch Hazel
    Aqua Velva Iced Blue AS

The Van Der Hagen Luxury Shave Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #446 Badger/Boar brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Henry Taylor Straight Razor gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Dickinson's Witch Hazel and then Aqua Velva Iced Blue AS. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

I'm not sure what to call this razor it's like a hybrid kamisori made by hikari , but man oh man did it deliver the goods!! Paa phantom aerolite with ap shave co independent knot and sterling haverford for the suds and smells!! Compress_20230923_103400_0969.jpg
  8. Does it have an asymetric bevel? I think it's a great idea. Western straight razors with folding scales are trickier to handle than a straight handle. Japanese razors are the best.

  9. It does but not like a traditional kamisori , I'll snap a few pics and post them up , you are right though the japanese razors are so nimble I was impressed with that blade.

  13. Freshly honed, with a new stone. I had a silky smooth 2 pass shave, that cut through 3 days of growth, ATG and WTG, with equal smoothness. This delivered a BDBS finish.

    Razor- Gipson "Alvaro" 8/8th inch
    Brush- @oscar11 Special. Synthetic knot
    Soap- ARKO. This always delivers
    Aftershave- Florida Water.

  19. I got to try out the Captain Nemo Absolute Zero today. @Yehuda D is a big fan so I was pretty sure I would not be disappointed and I was not. Nice mild mentholated scent and pure bracing cold on the skin for a very refreshing shave. :happy036:

Hump day shave! The super doll wiped away my whiskers like they weren't even there. Yaqi mojito for the face painting, and house of mammoth tobacconist for a heavenly lather and even better aroma! Compress_20230927_212217_7741.jpg
