  1. Great shave set up Joe...My late father always used the toilet paper method or a small piece of hand rolling cigarette paper, normally it was a cold water rinse, a liberal splash of Aftershave followed by a few choice expletive words and was good to go. He thought post shave balms creams, etc where for woman only.:rolleyes005:

  3. Gary, you probably saw me say this before, but to me, any shave product that contains the word "Gentleman" has to be a pretty classic product.

  15. Sept 27 SOTA

    Good afternoon.

    Shavette Shave #491
    Parker SRB
Gillette Wilkinson Sword 1/2 DE Blade (3)
    Semogue OC Super Badger Brush
Captain's Choice North SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Modessa Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 23.5 hrs

I wanted another shavette shave and went with my Parker SRB this time.
I went with the Captain's Choice North set because it is a fall scent, but I would use it any time of the year. For some reason, the lather was easier to produce than the last time I used this soap. I am not complaining. The scent has become a little more pronounced so that the juniper scent is much easier to pick up. It may be that I used a little more soap so the concentration of the scent was higher. It's my educated guess. Anyway, here's my lather:

Did an error-free three pass shave that was close, smooth and comfortable.
There was some alum feedback. Splashed on the witch hazel to tone down my skin. Finished by applying the matching aftershave without any burning sensation. Tomorrow will be a traditional straight razor shave. I am thinking about using Artie or one of my C-Mons. In any event, I will be using a straight for the next three days to close out the month. Take care.

  18. Of course I shaved today! I have a job and have to look presentable. I used the same setup as several of my previous posts. I have to admit that the Stick Schick does an admirable job, but I had 3 O'Clock shadow today and my scalp feels like 3 days stubble on 1 day growth. Maybe that's good. I get to shave tomorrow.

But I just can't help but feel that this particular razor isn't quite as effective as some of my DE razors. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

    Prep: Shower
    Lather: Bigelow
    Brush: Synthetic
    Razor: Stick Schick
Blade: Chick (I think 8? shaved my scalp twice with it)
Post: Cold rinse, alum block and TSD Lime - no noticeable feedback
