If your interest in Oud is piqued, have a look at AgadirMen products. Nuttin but Oud Wood in that.

SE Shave # 353 - DECLARATION GROOMING MICROMATIC MONDAY- Darkfall

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip
    Blade: GEM Stainless
Brush: Wolf Whiskers 24 mm Maggard Tux Synthetic
    Lather: Declaration Grooming Darkfall
    Aftershave: Declaration Grooming Darkfall
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Declaration Grooming Darkfall EdT

Beautiful Fall morning is a perfect match for the DG Darkfall. Love this scent. The MMBT easily mowed down this morning’s growth. I would pretty attest to the fact that if you want a super close shave the Micromatics may be you ticket to shave Nirvana. While I do get close shave with my other razors, both my Micromatics never fail to deliver.
Hope you all have a great day gentlemen.

Marvelous Monday shave Joe. I agree that the Micromatic razors give very close shaves.

Hi everyone. In case you're wondering about my wounds from yesterday's mishap, here's a pic:

    20231016_113649.jpg

Less than 24 hrs, it doesn't look bad. I can't believe I dropped my shavette and that it landed on my 2 fingers. It could've been worse. At least it is not on the underside of my digits, so that I can still use an open blade razor.

See being envious gets you nowhere. Ouch! Glad you did not have any significant damage. Guess we can compare wounds at our next breakfast. Perhaps next week.

    Great shave set up.

I can attest that the underside is a downright downer.

Thanks Joe. When I nicked my neck, I guess that I got startled and in conjunction with my slippery hand is why I dropped my shavette. Unfortunately, my right hand temporarily blocked the razor's ultimate destination-the sink.

    Oct 16 SOTA Menthol Monday

    upload_2023-10-16_17-37-13.png

    Good afternoon.

    Shavette Shave #500
    Dovo
    Personna Hairshaper Blade (5)
    JR 290 Cashmere Brush
    Cella SS
    Old Spice AS
    TSD M Bomb (not pictured)
    Stirling Alum Block
    Modessa Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 25.5 hrs

    20231016_165910.jpg

Today. I hit 500 shavette shaves and that is a significant milestone in my journey. I picked my Dovo for this occasion because it was my very first shavette and also to use it immediately after yesterday's clumsiness that gave me some cuts on my fingers and a nick on my neck. Btw, they're healing nicely. I chose Cella because it is super slick and performs well with a nice and easy lather. Although it is not warm on Long Island, I decided to make it a Menthol Monday and broke out the TSD M Bomb. Also, I figure that I would be more alert with the menthol added to my lather so that the chances of me cutting myself exponentially diminishes. As it turned out, I didn't shed any blood this time.
    Anyway, here's my lather:

    20231016_170413.jpg

I did 3 passes and achieved a BBS shave without any incidents. The alum feedback was slight. Splashed on the witch hazel and the Old Spice to end this solid session. The next 2 days I will be using Artie and then Max to hit the milestones of 500 traditional straight razor shaves and 1,000 open blade razors (straight razor shaves = 500 traditional straights plus 500 shavette razors). I am looking forward to it. Take care.

It might be menthol Monday, but the morning/overnight temps are dropping into the 30’s now, so I put the Bigelow away for a while. I unloaded my magic shoe box and discovered 3 Amalgamated soap containers that contain ends, bobs, slivers and leftovers from the past 7-12 years so grabbed one and started using it yesterday. I also uncovered a RazoRock Plissoft brush I haven’t used for a while and pressed it into service.

OCtober continues with the New LC and an Astra blade and two passes found my mug with a DFS. My first pass is always top to bottom starting at the ears and ending on the neck. My second pass is always bottom to top starting at the neck and ending at my ears. I used to try WTG, ATH and XTG, but that seemed like overkill on my face.

Lathering was simple and nice with about 15 seconds of brush loading and then about a minute of making a nice slick face lather.

    Alum gave very little feedback.

OCtober may be done as the Blackbird landed today. It felt great in my hand as I admired it this evening and plan to give it a real go until the Toggle arrives again in a few weeks.

Very nice shave Chris. I push the soap from the sidewalls toward the center of the tub so it's easier to lather and to use it up.
