Why does canned stuff have this in it?

So I'm just wondering why is it that almost all the canned foam like Gillette Foamy, Barbasol and so forth have Propane as an ingredient in their cans?
This is one of the razors I switched to using a shave brush and shave soaps and lathering creams (btw love it!).. It scared me to think that I was rubbing Propane (probably very small amounts) on my face just to shave.. But still.. Can't they use something else or whatever instead of that?

They use butane as well. Some aerosols use CO2 or Nitrous Oxide.

It sounds like you found what you needed to push you to soaps and a brush. You are in a better place

Still though that propane, butane or whatever can't be good for the skin ya know.
But the soap and such is better by far..

You think tiny amounts of a topically applied propellant will hurt you?

Makes me wonder if Rise Superfoam had propane.

What about food products? I try not to purchase anything in a pressurized spray can if I can find an alternative.

A big tub of Cool Whip beats a spray can of Reddi-wip any day of the week!

I wonder if the Batmobile could use Clubman as a propellant? An added benefit is that the odor would virtually eliminate tailgating.

A big tub of hand-whipped heavy cream beats both

Why can't butane or propane be good for the skin?

I've heard when it comes into contact with the skin, it can cause the skin to dry out. Dry skin can be more prone to irritation, redness, and discomfort, especially for individuals with sensitive skin.

Drying on the skin is the main reason I soon left canned goo.
