Easy Saturday Toggle Shave. I used the Arko and my lather bowl and loaded longer than usual and the worked the lather more and had a nice slick and shiny coating to help the razor glide. The Toggle is growing on me with more use. It is a decently heavy razor and feels much like my two premium stainless steel razors in my hand.

    Prep: shower and face wash
Soap: Arko (grated and pressed into a mug)
    Brush: RazoRock Plissoft
    Razor: Gillette Adjustable (D-1)
    Blade: Personna (3)
    Post: alum and Old Spice

Minimal feed back from the alum after 2 easy passes

Well, once again I began the shave by leaving S. Porcupine alone. The rest was quite good, with Pages from Hub City Soaps.(based in Lubbock, TX). One Knick, up at N. Porcupine. At least it wasn't as bad as the nasty cut down at South, which is improving, I must say. Very well done everywhere else. 2 passes. I still have problems with the scent of the Pages A.S., but maybe it is SUPPOSED to smell as it does. The matchimg soap smells better. Aaahh, I'll give the A.S. a few more tries before coming to a conclusion. It certainly does what an aftershave is supposed to do, but....smells a bit like Vermont Maple Syrup. But like I say, I'm not ready to come to a full conclusion. The shave itself was Very Outstanding.

Dayum! Did you at least get a free turkey as part of the road kill? Glad you are okay.

    DE Shave # 491

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Yaqi Traveler
    Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (4)
    Brush: Ever Ready 200T
Lather: Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux Unconditional Surrender
Aftershave: Chatillon Lux Unconditional Surrender Toner

Outstanding DG/CL collaboration shave. I do enjoy the scent of the software. I just will the toner had a bit more longevity in the scent as compared with some of the other CL toners I have. Perhaps when I finish this toner I will opt for the aftershave instead to see if there is a difference.

Three passes with the Yagi razor, with the GSB, delivered an extremely closer shave than yesterday with the razor. Perhaps technique or glissade of the soap were a factor. Nonetheless, super smoothness and SWBO approved.

Have a great day all. Tomorrow will be a straight razor shave in chilly LI. Come on Joe, @Trigger, warm it up.

Outstanding shave Barry. I have been meaning to pick up a Haslinger soap for the past few years. Currently, too many soaps in the den.

Terrific shave and setup Troy. Arko is definitely a slick lather. It's also budget friendly.

Super Saturday Shave Joe. Unfortunately, I don't have control of the weather. I can begrudgingly deal with the cold, but definitely not the snow.

Not so great today and want to be honest about it…

I was in a bit of a rush this morning, and also wanted to test out some travel kit supplies since I’m on a business trip right after the holidays. Since I’m often in a rush while traveling I figured this would be a good combo.

I found an old el cheapo razor that would be ideal for travel since I don’t care about it. It’s some no name head that I had stuck on an old tech handle.

The razor was terrible. It pinched the blade down so tight that it didn’t even shave. Literally like there was no blade in it.

This got me further rushed, so I grabbed the fat boy with the Feather blade that I used twice already, slapped on some Arko that I probably could have worked on a bit longer, and did a quick two pass shave.

I actually got a small weeper and a fair amount of irritation post shave. It was minor and gone quickly, but I “never” get weepers or irritation anymore.

So I learned one of three things today, or more likely some combination of them.

1- I need a better option for a travel razor, and may bring this up as a general forum question.

2- I need to be a bit more careful with the Feather blades. They are fabulous, but less forgiving of rushing and not replacing often enough.

3- The Arko “may” not be the best choice for travel. I may try a few of the other cheap sticks. I generally like this soap however, so it may have been more my fault.

At least I’m figuring this out now, and not slicing myself up in a hotel room!

My face is a bit sandpapery today. I just shaved last night!
So, I am going to shave again before bed.
    My setup:
Mr Taylor's Shaving Cream whipped in my nice bowl/mug using a Simpson Synthetic
Gem "Damaskeen" razor with a Persona SE blade (5)
Unscented Taylors Facial Toner with witch hazel
    Proraso after-shave balm
Pinaud "Clubman" after-shave smelly stuff :)
