Happy Friday Everyone. I will try to post on a more regular basis. In all the rush to new and improved soap bases, Mike's just continues to deliver without any fanfare. The soap just flat works for me. I will be buying replacements for Mike's Bay Rum, Lavender and Vetiver. These are some of favorite in each of their categories. Take care and have a great day. ​

Happy Saturday Everyone. A wonderful day of college football ahead with Championship Saturday. I freely admit that college football is my favorite sport of the year. Another wonderful shave with Mike's. My best estimate is 1-3 shaves remaining on this bad boy. I think I will look for the next victim. Take care and have a great day. ​

Was seriously considering the Williams for my next 3017, but "been there-done that" so...
It really does make some impressive suds.
My puck is heavily infused with menthol crystals in homage to TSD's former member @GDCarrington and current freeze guru @Yehuda D

Stank du jour is a bottle of vintage Royall Bay Rhum (made in Bermuda).
While longevity isn't its strong suit, it is a classic West Indies Bay Rum and always gets a spontaneous SWMBOSOA®

The Heljestrand did a very nice job on my cheeks and left some blood on both sides of my neck.
What's that saying..."Chicks dig scars"? ​

The "Fast & Loose" patented lather method eats through soap.

Great looking shave Joseph. I wonder how the current Royall Bay Rhum compares.

Of course it does...

I see that they only make the Rhum 57 now. I just might have to take one for the team.

A&E Chasing the Dragon~~Semogue SOC Taj Resin Boar~~Gustave Lalune Mon Fier Destrier~~Royall Spyce
So, this is a serious contender for the next 3017.
The soap base is exquisite. The scent is strong, but after a good rinse with Thayer's, doesn't remain.
That's some pretty shiny micro-foam you're looking at...

The Lalune did a nice job on the cheeks and didn't draw any blood on my neck.
Cotton Ball test results?
Fail.
The vintage Royall Spyce is in no way a clone and/or dupe of the Shulton juice.
It drew neither compliments nor ire, so Primo calls that a win.

Happy Monday if there is such a thing. I stumbled across a video from Subie Shaves in which he uses a Gem blade with modification in the OneBlade V2. He accomplished this by using a filed down Feather FHS blade a shim. The hack does work and blade locks firmly in place after removing the spine. I did not think about but I increased the blade gap turning a mild mannered razor into one that is much more aggressive. I am sure that my next shave with this setup will be more pleasant.

The other big news is that Mike's Vetiver is done and dusted. I will hang out with you guys while I decide on my next victim. Take care and have a great day. ​
