    Shaving Recipe for today.

    Prep: Warm shower:/ Imperial Leather Bergamot & Sea Salt Energising Body Wash.

    Pre:
    Cold wet flannel to my face & head.
    Cien PURE Fragrance Free Sensitive Bar Soap.
    Brush: Yaqi 26mm Rainbow Brown Synthetic. (Faux Horse)
    Bowl Lather.
    Bowl: Tesco's Ceramic 'Cosmo' Side Bowl.
    Lather: Monsavon Au Lait Shaving Soap.
    Blade: Mers Supershave X Platinum. (1)
    Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic Premium TTO.

    Post:
    Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's, Cold Water Face Rinse./Alum Rub./Cold Water Rinse./Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./Williams Aqua Velva ASL./Nivea Men Replenishing PSB.

    Greetings,

    (Face & Head Shave)

    A new eclectic shave set up to start the Weekend....Maiden combined head & face shave with the Wilkinson Sword Classic Premium TTO which is significantly more assertive than the King C. Gillette paired up the Mers SuperShave X Platinum which are manufactured in china made of Swedish steel. I'm pleasantly surprised by the performance of the WS Premium TTO this morning especially my head shave.

    The Monsavon Au Lait along with MWF/Kent are some of my favourite shaving soaps. The post shave feel that both of these soaps gives is absolutely superb, making each shave I have with them a very enjoyable shaving experience.

    A close efficient face & head shave with no errors to report. Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Nivea Men Replenishing PSB

    My face & precious swede are feeling smooth and smelling divine.;)

    Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.:cool:

    Super Saturday shave, Barry. I am wondering if the Mers Supershave Platinum blade is a rebranded Rockwell blade because the Rockwell blades are also made in China and platinum coated.

    Showdown time...The one DE I haven’t learnt to like is the Muhle Rocca 96. I had tried this in Jan ’23 and Feb ’23 and abandoned it as too aggressive. Time to get back on the horse. Back-to-back shave with the R41 Grande as a backup in case things turned out badly

    Razor 1 = Muhle Rocca R96 (86 grams) + Bic (1) Left side of face
    Razor 2 = Muhle R41 Grande (92 grams) + Bic (1) Right side of face

    Prep = Cold Water Prep and shave, Tabac in a tube as Pre shave
    Soap = Sterling Black Cherry: I wanted a known slick soap that I could trust
    Brush = Omega Pura Setola 11137. Stiff bristles for the hard soap. Soaked 10 minutes. Loaded straight from the puck 60 cw and 60 ccw thanks Joe @Trigger
    Bowl = Timeless added around 7 cc water in stages. Super lather
    Passes = 2 + left ; 2 + right. Didn’t need or want to push things to a 3rd pass
    Technique = WTG mostly in 1st pass, then XTG both ways in 2nd pass, then some ATG top lip and bottom lip on both sides
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum was a bit stingy left lower neck, not the right, so I can go harder there next time
    ASL = Stirling Bay Rum (6 splashes)
    Damage = none

    Score = 9 + /10

    Comments:

    Both razors are of similar size and weight, so I feel this was a fair comparison

    The Rocca has more blade exposure and more gap than the R41
    The R41 seems to clamp the blade more solidly

    Fresh Bic blade for each razor to keep things constant. I chose the Bic because it has a similar rating as, but not as sharp as the Feather, didn’t want the feather for these razors at this stage

    Both sides turned out super smooth. The left side shave with the Rocca actually turned out smoother than usual

    The Rocca gave more blade feedback. The R41 Grande didn’t "feel" as smooth
    Both needed setting the cap and the angle correctly. I am less focused on the razor nowadays, more aware of where the cutting edge is and what it is doing at the point of contact. This was easier to find with the Rocca. The Rocca had more audible feedback, similar to the Merkur Progress, which is a plus

    I have a slight hand tremor even at the best of times and find that the heavier razors work well to dampen down any tremor. P&G are bragging that they are always innovating. If they want another gimmick then they should look at a razor with a gimble in the handle to smooth things out a bit (tongue in cheek, but hey what’s with the Heated Razor thingy anyway?). I am side tracking…

    In the beginning of the year I had thought of getting rid of the Rocca and some other stuff
    Today I really liked the way it shaved so it will stay in the Den and will used more often

    Safe and happy weekend to one and all

    Awesome comparison shave Chris. The advice that is usually given is if a razor gives you a problem, then set it aside for another time. The theory is that one's technique improves over time so that a once troublesome razor will give one a good shave. Today, you experienced this wonderful wisdom first hand. Congratulations on taming that razor. Btw, a former member used 3 lb ankle weights to control his tremors from Parkinson's so that he could shave with his straights.

    Fine shave from "an old friend". I don't think I'd used Chiseled Face since not long after I joined here. The soap jumped onto my brush for a great loading job. I shook the brush for a bit, as it appeared watery. Solid work all around. 2 passes. No cuts, Knicks, Polka-Dots. I may make another CF order when this one is through-course that's putting the cart WAY before the horse. Sherlock consists of mainly Tobacco, Leather, Earth, and Pepper.

    Thank you Joe..it's quite possible that the mers Supershave Platinum are rebranded Rockwell blades, like a lot of other DE razors & blades..MERS Razor works are based in the UK,if my memory serves me correct, Rockwell razors /blades are Canadian, and like Mers the manufacturing is done in China, and probably the final quality control is done in Canada...They good blades, I'll be doing a Parker razor & Treet platinum blade focus in January... wishing you a great start to the weekend.
