The Archaic Alchemy Eureka Shaving Soap lathered well with the Jayaruh #423 Two-band Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Darwin-Handle Gillette Old Type and a Personna Super Blade (75) gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Pinaud Clubman Special Reserve. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Another soap that I’ve sadly neglected but I decided to go with this morning - this Frosty Bay Rum is vegan based like all of the other soaps from River Valley Trading in Durban, South Africa and the owner is a very fine gentleman named Mohamed Peer. This soap has a lovely bay rum scent, the lather is a pleasure to work up - it gets so thick, rich, creamy, slick, and protective, there’s a decent amount of menthol in it, and it leaves a very comfortable postshave feeling which the Prep enhances so well. Finally a couple of splashes of the Floid Vigoroso aftershave - do I ever love its beautiful old school barbershop scent and it’s icy cold. Another awesome three pass BBS shave that was so much fun!

SE SOTD, Friday, December 15th 2023

Razor : Yaqi Romulus 316 SSP head with a Yaqi Chippendale 316SSP handle- Mfg 2023, mild range. Excellent machining and finish QC. The Romulus does have positive blade exposure from new, to bump the Romulus up a notch if a person likes more blade feel you can use the Feather super pro blades or just use a 6-10/ 1000 inch shim works well for more blade gap. The razor performs well and is nimble to wield about the face with ease. It glides nicely and I'm very happy with it. Had a close comfortable shave this morning on 24hrs growth.
Blade : Kai SS captain titian(2) sharp and smooth with reasonable longevity. Kai makes some nice blades IMO.
Soap : Yaqi Musketeer Rapier- nice scented soap (Aramis classic dupe) with excellent lather qualities. One of my favorites. Yaqi commissioned Master soap creations for line of soaps and aftershaves.
Brush : Yaqi "Barber pole" 24mm 2band badger. Excellent lather generator, pillow like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + great lather painter. Nice big handle for big hands and knot is a great performer for my lathering needs.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Yaqi Musketeer Rapier splash + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBs + Alum + no irritation + 2 weepers= Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Yaqi Romulus razor + a Kai Captain titian mild . (Almost perfect shave but a few weepers so took off some points, 24 hours growth with not much to shave off from yesterdays close shave!)

I am doing really well with the SE & DE razors. I do need to work more with the Feather DX and the kamasuri razor too. They are the only razors that bite me now. Not bad but, I don't like cuts! Shaving is very pleasant with the DE & SE razors. I LOVE my vintage razors!

The aftershave is so much stronger so I’ll need to pay better attention next time to compare the actual underlying scent. Regardless, it’s a nice scent and a wonderful soap
