  2. Nice comments about this being a novelty razor Joe, I will resist the urge!
Btw, was the blade new or re-sharpened in any way?
    Nice setup.

Cool setup and shave Joe. Somehow that brush looks classic antique.

  3. Great shave Joe. I concur that it may be due to the hardness of the water. I would get bottled distilled water and see what happens to the lather. Btw, you had an awesome exercise episode. Bravo!

  6. Thanks Chris. It is a vintage razor that I believe was made in the early to mid 50's I believe these razors were initially made in the 30's. You can go on YouTube and see them in action.

    Greetings,

    (Face & Head shave)

It's been a while since I've last added the Supermax classic shave cream to my shave set ups, and forgot how good this inexpensive shave cream performs, it's slick protective and doesn't dry out on my face and leaves my face feeling hydrated and smooth. I intend to use this cream more often.

A comfortable face & head shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of L'0REAL Barber Club Reinforcing ASB.

My face is feeling cool smooth, & smelling divine.;)

Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

Second shave similar to the first with the Wilkinson Sword blades. I was able to achieve a few areas of BBS with some extra care. Although very smooth, this blade is still falling just short of being sharp enough. I’m going to get my hands on a tuck of the Gillette branded ones to try per Joes suggestion.

Otherwise great shave with no issues!

Blade testing has been much easier this time around. The last time I did this was in my first year of DE shaving. I need to be a harsher critic now as it seems that I can get a good shave out of any blade that is not junk. This is probably a good thing, and the top four of this list so far are all great performers for me.

    Final standings, round three:

    1- Personna Lab Blue
    2- Feather
    3- Kai
    4- Gillette Silver/Blue
    5- Wilkinson Sword
    Next up- Gillette Perma Sharp

    Have a great Tuesday everyone!

  13. Thank you Scott...The same applies to me when I see things on the forum...I'm on a infrequently used shaving items focus at the moment, hence my set ups are more eclectic than my normal eclecticism! Have a great day.

  14. The blade was honed by a professional honer at the meetup. It was done for free. The good thing is that he will hone it for me for free as long as I pay for the shipping to and fro. I would so it myself, but I can't seem to separate the blade from the guard. I have seen youtubers do it, but for some reason I just don't have the knack in doing so.
  15. Wonderful shaves as always Barry. Enjoy your day.

  16. Terrific Tuesday shave Scott. I like the Perma-Sharp blade, but they were not as smooth as the Gillette Platinum. Enjoy your day.

  17. Lovely shave this morning with the WTF Bay Rum soap and Gabels BR aftershave. I may repurchase the BR from WTF when this one goes by way of Edmund Fitzgerald. I think there was a problem wih it on the first delivery, as it travelled here during a heat spell. Hope that doesn't happen again. Just a theory. Anyway, the Stoylin brush was a soap magnet today(course we want ALL brushes to be like that). Clean and clear overall. South Porcupine(chin)deserves a better job tomorrow, though. Ahh, it was all right. Maybe I just wanted to go soft there so as to avoid a cut. Speakin a which-no cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. 2 passes. The Gabels Bay Rum was fine, clove and all(course the other day someone straightened me out on the clove/Bay Rum persuasion.). Super Duper Outstanding.

    SE Shave # 361

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: PAA Starling V2 (OC)
    Blade: GEM Stainless
    Brush: RazoRock Plissoft Monster 26mm
Pre-Shave: Pears Soap - Mint Extract
    Lather: Arko
Aftershave: Aqua Velva Classic Ice Blue
    Additional Care:
    Maggards Alum
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original
    Nivea Sensitive Balm

See Paul, @Paul Turner, it is not so difficult being consistent with listing your hardware and software. Just calling it like I see it.
    IMG_5846.jpeg

Another fantastic shave with low budget materials. The most expensive item in this shave is the razor. The RR brush loaded the soap off the puck then to the lather bowl for a nice slick and thick lather. The PAA razor easily mowed down this morning’s turf and the shave was finished off nicely with the assistance of the Nivea balm and the Aqua Velva.

Potentially the last full day at the Southern Den until next Tuesday provided the concrete company show up to pour today. The pour was scheduled for last Friday, postponed until yesterday and again moved to today. Contractors can be frustrating.

Tomorrow will be a travel day. Hope you all have a great day gentlemen.
  19. Thank you Chris. When I saw this brush on Jim’s, @Jayaruh, website I just had to pick it up.
  20. Thank you Scott.
FYI - The Cahaba River is the longest substantially free-flowing river in Alabama and is among the most scenic and biologically diverse rivers in the United States. It is a major tributary of the Alabama River and part of the larger Mobile River basin.
