Pre:
Cold wet flannel to my face & head.
Cien PURE Fragrance Free Sensitive Bar Soap.
Brush: Omega 11137.
Bowl Lather.
Bowl: Tesco's Ceramic 'Cosmo' Side Bowl.
Lather: Bath House Spanish Fig & Nutmeg Shaving Soap.
Blade: Gillette Super Blue. (D2)
Razor: King C. Gillette.

Post:
Cold water face wash with brush squeezing's, Cold Water Face Rinse. /Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With 200ml of Care+Witch Hazel./Baylis & Harding Black Pepper & Ginseng ASB./ Ard Al Zafraan Oud 24 Hours EdP.

Last shave of 2023...

A wonderful performance from the King C. Gillette/Gillette Super blue duo to finish my last shave of 2023 in style.

Finishing the shave off a with a few small squirts of Ard Al Zafraan Oud 24 Hours EdP to the pulse points.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.

Second shave with the Wizamet did smooth out a bit and was otherwise just like the first. Putting this blade a hair below the GSB for me, but still very nice…

The massive Omega brush is breaking in slowly but surely. It works fine, and that’s what’s important. The softening of the tips will happen eventually. I treated myself to a higher end brush that should arrive any day now, so the 10049 will have some competition soon…

The Turkish Colonyas are a great once in a while treat. A refreshing, citrus and alcohol fueled slap in the face. I do need to limit use to keep my face from drying out, but enjoyable nonetheless…

Here are my final results from a month of blade testing. Ready to give the Super Speed a break and use some of the better blades I came across in December.

Posting my 4 favorite razor/blade combos of 2023.



Left to right.

1. Razorock OC stainless steel Hawk V3 matched with a Feather super Pro blade.
Using this artist blade it gives smooth but clean one pass shave both head and face.
One of the smoothest but efficient razors in the group.

2. Yaqi Top Aggressive slant head with a generic handle matched with a Feather blade.
A relatively new design that cuts clean and gives a loud report.
This razor must be respected and handled with skill.
This combo gives a surprisingly great one pass shave both head and face.

3. The custom DEvett matched with a Feather blade. My top choice!
Gives the best one pass shave of all here.
Care and confidence must be taken due to no safety bar.
Landing correctly, light pressure and correct angle can give a gentle but amazingly close shave both head and face.

4. GEM Open Comb Micromatic matched with Personna GEM stainless steel blade.
Gives a great face shave but shines when using it for a head shave.
Can be rough if used incorrectly, the head needs to be flat on the skin throughout the entire stroke.
The first razor that gave me a great shave.
It takes 2 passes to get a great close shave but does the job effortlessly.

Looks like a great lineup Terry. I will be fooling around with a V2 RR Blackhawk next month so it’s good to see a positive review on a similar modal. I like smooth shavers very much….
