Thanks Scott. It is made out of Solingen stainless steel. I believe it was manufactured in the 50's. I bought it New Old Stock. It has 46 shaves since I first honed it so it will need to be sharpened probably later in the year.
An update on my progress with the post war Tech. I only shave about once a week and so far this year (about three shaves' worth) the Tech has delivered almost perfect shaves. 9 out of 10 I'd say. I will continue until the end of Jan. at which time I'll likely go milder (ASD2) or more effective (Old Type) for Feb's 30 day focus. I did switch from the little Tech solid ball end handle to the hollow Fat handle, (same head and blade though). I think the little one is prettier, but it's just a wee bit slim between my fingers and so despite the Fat handle being a smidge lighter I prefer the diameter of the FH. Everything else is remaining static. La Maison du Barbier (Plisson) synthetic brush, Mitchell's Wool Fat, Proraso green splash.
Rating: 5/5 Prep: Hot shower, CO Bigelow Grapefruit Soap Razor: Charcoal Goods Everyday Blade: Kai (1) Two Pass Shave- One WTG, one XTG/ATG Brush: Omega 10049 Boar Pre: None Lather: Cella Aftershave: Cella Post: Alum block, Quinns Grapefruit Witch Hazel Soundtrack- Classic rock FM station With the Kai, I finally found a blade that I can feel in this mild tank of a razor. I suspected that the Kai’s and Feathers were going to shine in the CG, and so far I’m not wrong. Effortless two pass with much more BBS than DFS. It was nice to break out some Cella again. Three more shaves with this razor and then moving on to some more aggressive ones… Consecutive days shaving- 18 Current skin issues or irritation- None so far Enjoy the rest of your day gentlemen… Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
17 Jan 2024 24 hours Repeat set up from 15 Dec ‘23 Prep = Tepid tap Water Prep and shave, Tabac in a tube as Pre shave Soap = Today saw the end of the Stirling Black Cherry, I will miss the mild scent, it’s been a great companion these last few months Brush = Omega boar 1004 Bowl = Timeless Razor = Gillette Flare tip Blade = Feather (1) Passes = 3 + were needed with this mild razor, could have stuck at 2 +, but plenty of lather left Post = Usual + Old Spice Scent = Guerlain pour homme Damage = One minor scritch lower right chin, no heroics needed, cold water and alum took care of it. (Deduct ½ point) Score = 8 ½ / 10. Smooth but not my best. Comments: Feather + Flare tip = still a good match Hope your mid week shaves turned out great
Very nice Scott, great pic and setup. I don't think I have done 18 consecutive days, I do like a break every now and again. What is the Cella after shave like?
l'ortografia in italiano è molto complicata catches me out every time too, have to keep checking the labels for those double consonants
Really nice looking shave Chris. I also enjoy how Feather blades ramp up razors that would otherwise bee too mild for me...
Cella AS is absolutely nothing like the cream. It's essentially a classic Fougere with a citrus undertone. Many have trouble describing this scent because there is no good way to describe Fougere if you never smelled it. It's a classic European cologne like scent. If you (or anyone) have ever used TOBS Jermyn Street, it's close to the same thing. I prefer the Cella. The Fougere in the Jermyn Street is too overpoweringly strong for me, and it drowns out the citrus that's supposed to be in there. The Cella is more balanced and milder than the TOBS...
Colibri (Hummingbird) 1.10mm stainless steel head. Yaqi Tsuka stainless steel handle. Astra SP blade (3). Shore Shave Cool Water Mint Ribbon synthetic brush. Lakewood Soap Company Smoky Mountain Rain shave soap (sample). Timeless Razor shave bowl. Stetson aftershave splash. Excellent shave this morning. The Colibri is a solid performer. I was feeling a little nostalgic this morning so I brought the Stetson out. Stay warm everyone. Picture of the outside temperature coming to work this morning. Take care and stay warm.
