First, welcome to TSD. If you post an introductory thread in the Newbie forum under the General tab, you can enter to win freebies. :happy088 As for the best AS's that is completely subjective, but I'll give you my opinion on the best barbershop smells. Pinaud Clubman and/or Musk Old Spice Lustray Coachman Master Topaz Speick There are others but off hand these usually put me in mind of the barbershop as a kid.
Go to the drug store, buy them all (after a sniff test). Then head to Sallys and pick up some Masters Bay Rum.

The Bunnys favorite ole Barbershop scent. Clubman Bay Rum I am also partial to Old Spice, and Aqua Velva. Not sure if all would agree they are barbershop smells though. Fuzzy
Definately Masters Topaz. I can splash some of that on and it takes me back to when I would get my haircut at the local barber shop.
I have never smelled that... does it compare to anything I might know? The green skin bracer is one that I forgot... another good old scent. Fuzzy
Welcome to TSD! When I think of Barbershop I think of Pinaud Clubman. Yes it is my personal favorite but as I grew up....my barber had a Pinaud stand in the barbershop which include all the Pinaud products and the place always smell of it. Every time I splash it on it brings back those memories
Topaz has a sweet, powdery, soft smell Fuzzy. It is divine. Master AS's all share these traits. They are soft and powdery and not really like anything else I have tried. English Leather is powdery too, but it's not very sweet so not the same. Best thing I can say is order up a bottle. It's one of the cheapies so won't set you back. Go to the shopping sticky up at the top of the forum and follow the link to Atlanta or Appleton Barber Supply. Get a few more while you're at it to make S&H worth it!
I tried to 'plain that to the Boss... no go... I need to bump off a supervisor so I can apply for their spot. Fuzzy
For me it is Pinaud's Clubman. Even more so than the aftershave is a dash of Pinauds Powder applied with one of those big floppy horsehair brushes. I used to go to a little hole in the wall "family" hair cutting place that mainly did womens hair and occasionally a small childs I gave it a shot and the lady did a great haircut and always finished with the powder just like when I was a kid. I told her how much I loved that scent and had even stopped at a Sally Beauty on the way home to get both brush and powder. On a later visit, all freshly cut and powdered I was heading to the door when a sweet older blue haired lady looked at me and said "oh my, someone sure smells nice today" Try it, you'll love it. Tony
I just picked up a bottle of Pinaud Clubman tonight. I tried a little bit of it and it is fantastic. It really brings back memories of when I used to go to a real honest-to-god barbershop, instead of some hair "salon". It has become an immediate favorite of mine, and a rival to my beloved AV. I can't wait to splash it on after my shave tomorrow morning.
I bought originally for the nostalgia....But go to the Clubman 90% of the time. My girlfriend even likes it also she is very picky but she enjoys the scent on me. It doesnt stick around too long and doesnt interfere with your regular cologne. Its cheap as hell also! Appletons and Atlanta barber supply has it for dirt cheap!
My Boosters Ice and Osage rub are very barber shop. If they didnt give me that icy goodness, someone else would get them in the mail.
Booster Mosswood is my favorite of the company line, and it is used in a lot of Canadian barbershops.
Welcome to The Shave Den! Best barbershop type after shaves I've tried: Pinaud Clubman, Pinaud Lilac Vegetal, Skin Bracer. Good Luck!
