  1. Thanks Joe, me too, but I will continue to throw in some face lathering into the Mix

    Thank you Joe
    Thanks Gary

  2. Thanks Chris. It's a wonderful scent. Maybe, Stirling will release it once again. It's unfortunate that aftershaves and EdT, etc that are alcohol based can no longer be shipped overseas.

    Greetings,

    A relaxing Sunday morning shave.

The Yintal 9306-I. TTO (super-speed clone) is an incredibly good razor has a nice heft to it, and like my other Chinese super-speed clone the Baili BD177 Rose Gold TTO, has provided me with comfortable acceptable irritation-free shaves with each outing. What more can I ask for.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Wilko Men's ASB.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.;)

Keep safe and enjoy your Sunday ladies & gentlemen.

  6. End of the month shave[IMG]

As this month comes to an end my focus on derby shave creams also ends. Happy to report I finished one tube of menthol cream and put a dent in the rest. Trying to use one item and focusing on it sure made me more familiar with that particular item, it also improved my technique. I learned that, for derby creams, to get enough lather I need more cream compared to other creams, say proraso.

However, I also would like to anounce I won't be joining next months 30 day focus. For me most enjoyable part of this hobby is the options we have. I love opening the cupboard and deciding on what to use. I even mounted my razors, brushes and blades on a wall openly so that I could stare and chose a set. Thanks to your encourgements I started sharing my pictures too instead of just lurking. I'm not going back to lurking, you can still find me in SOTD.

The begining of the 30 day focus was exciting and new. The idea of improving my technique and wondering if I could or not intiruged me but now that I participated in it for a couple of months I yern for the endless option I had before.

I thought a lot about this. I noticed limiting myself made me reluctant to shave, whereas I couln't wait to shave before. But I also noticed that before this I had some soaps, after shaves, razors or blades that I rarely if ever used. Even if my eye fell on it on the deciding stage I would say "another time" and chose someting I liked more. For me having the options is the best part of the hobby, but left to my own devices it also causes me to skip some items I have.

To combat this, in lieu of 30 day focus, I will be keeping all my options but removing myself and my cohices from the equation. Recently as part of spring cleaning I filed everything I have for "wet shaving" in an excel file (this also helps me with the expenses)
I decided to enter this database into a random picker site. Other than some incompability issues, i.e se blades/razors, I will be using this site to pick my shaves.

Once again thank you all for your encorugements and nice comments, especially @Trigger who encouraged me in the first place.[IMG]

  7. Good morning from New Orleans! Having a great time here at the Jazz fest.

I'm here for 4 days and I took minimum shave gear for the trip. I only figured on getting one shave in and I did it late last last.

    Razor - Schick Krona
    Shave cream - Barbasol
    After shave - Clubman Vanilla

I had 2.5 days of growth, and the shave went surprisingly well. I brought my Schick Krona instead of the Tech I was going to, because the Krona has been such a smooth, easy shaver. And it proved to be once again. And that is in spite of my Barbasol fail! Yeah, it was an old travel can and it spit out a watery mess and no foam. But I bravely went forward with it after using only a hot wash cloth to prep and I promptly made quite the mess because it was so soupy. But it was pretty slick, so I went for it.

The shave was magnificent! 2 of the fastest passes I ever dared to do, and some quick touch ups and done. Beautifully smooth. I was kind of shocked to be honest, but that Krona with a Treet blade is really perfect for me.

Before flying home tomorrow we'll be off antiquing, so maybe there's an old razor or two out there for me!:)

DE Shave # 530 - Sample Soap Sunday - Areffa Soap Tarot

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Bigelow & Parkin Travel
    Blade: Suneko Amorphous Diamond SS
    Brush: Ever Ready 200T
    Lather: Areffa Soap Tarot

Outstanding travel day shave with the Bigelow & Parker razor combined with the Areffa Soap.
First, the razor is extremely compact for easily storage while traveling. It does take some getting use to since it does not have a handle and can be susceptible to getting lather on your fingers. Frequently rinsing alleviates that challenge.
Second, this soap was given to me by Joe, @Trigger, following his attendance to the Fall meet up at Pasteur’s in NYC. I have been very impressed by the performance of this soap. It is made with bear fat and may possibly be the slickest soap in my dens. Unfortunately, it is not currently available at Pasteur. Should it become available I may have to pick up a full tub.

The end result of this shave, of course via three passes although two would have sufficed, was an ultra smooth and error free shave. Ready for a final half day sun and Game 4 of the NYR vs Capitals series. LGR!!
