    Friday's Cold Water Shave

    Cold Water Rinse
    Arko Shave Stick
    Jayaruh #119 Synthetic
    Gillette English Flat Bottom NEW
    PolSilver Super Iridium Blade
    CWR
    Mennen Skin Bracer

The Arko Shave Stick lathered well with the Jayaruh #119 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette English Flat Bottom NEW Razor and the PolSilver Super Iridium Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Mennen Skin Bracer After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

    Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
    Junjie/Wilkinson Sword day 9
    Stirling Electric Sheep SS
    Cera Ve Moisturizer
    Brut Attraction Totale AS Splash

Do I ever LOVE this Electric Sheep soap - everything about it to me is fantastic. The scent is lovely - it’s a blend of citronella, lemon, with some eucalyptus thrown in for good measure, its mutton tallow formula gives the lather wonderful thickness, richness, as well as super slickness, and it leaves my skin feeling like it’s born again. The Cera Ve moisturizer works great as a balm, and the Brut Attraction Totale aftershave smells quite nice. Three passes resulted in a fabulous, enjoyable BBS shave!

Wishing everyone a great Memorial Day weekend![IMG]

  10. It is a beautiful brush, Charlie.
Does the Arlington remind you of 4711? I always thought so.

Razor : Yaqi Romulus head 316 SPP, SE 50mm with a Yaqi Chippendale 316 SSP handle. Mfg 2023>, mild to mid range depending on blade or shim used. Small head parts make for a nice nimble shave with excellent results mostly. Had a close comfortable stellar shave this morning.
Blade : Kai Captain titian mild(1) sharp and smooth with excellent longevity using this reason.
Soap : Ogallala Bayrum and Sandalwood, nice Bayrum soap Sandalwood scents with great lather qualities. This soap seems to work better loaded from puck then face lather than from bowl premixed it seems.
Brush : Yaqi "Cavern lake" 24mm tuxedo knot. Excellent lather generator, cloud like soft tips, nice splay scrubber + excellent lather painter.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Ogallala Bayrum Sandalwood aftershave + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : Dial 10 stellar.jpg or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + no weepers=[IMG] Had a close comfortable stellar shave this morning with my Yaqi Romulus SE with a Kai CTM 50mm blade.

  17. Thanks, Joseph. For a number of years I had a personal tradition of buying an annual birthday brush. I enjoyed the concept of celebrating 60 years here. Contrary to what Jerry Seinfeld wants you to believe, saying, “No” when you’re sixty was my idea first. I don’t know how, but he nicked my idea and put it in his stand up act! When commissioning “60” Bob’s only requirement was that the handle be 60mm tall and cream colored. The rest was up to him. At the time, it was the first handle he’d made with these contours, but he’s turned it since then for a few selective cognoscenti. The knot is one of Bob’s less processed premium 26mm “Manchurian White” knots; it’s a perfect example of soft tips (not gelled), backbone and flow through. I have 6 or 7 Elite Razor MW knots. This one and three others are outstanding, but the remaining knots are a wee bit too mushy for my taste (you know of what I speak ;)). But I dig the handles and like to see them on my shelf , so for now they remain. Maybe down the road apiece, I’ll put a few brushes on the BST. Or knot…

Yep, Arlington and 4711 are very similar. I find the Harris splash feels better on my skin and seems more refined in its subtle complexities and longer lasting (by about 15-20 minutes). While the 4711 is substantially less expensive, I would (and have) purchase(d) DRH Arlington again. A huge plus, is that Gayle didn’t disapprove. She said it smelled like Pez. Now, where’ve I heard that before? To me it’s the better splash, and therefore a better value.
Thanks for asking. Enjoy the holiday weekend!:eatdrink047:
