After my recent Tabac debacle I needed a very gentle shave today. The brush is the softest in my den, an Elite Razor crimson over clear gold flake with a 26mm Motherlode knot. The handle reminds me of the accordion my parents bought for me when I was 6 or 7 years old. I wanted drums (Ringo!). They said, no. Too loud. I said, ok, saxophone, thinking they’d think that was so uncool they’d relent and get me a guitar which was really my second choice after drums (Ringo!). My mom said you should learn piano. I didn’t want to play piano. My dad said we had no room for a piano anyway (plus they were too expensive - nobody had a piano, only doctors, and we didn’t know any doctors, so like I said,
nobody had a piano.), so mom had the idea that I’d learn a keyboard on the accordion. Tbh, I didn’t and still don’t understand why she thought that learning a keyboard skill was so important. Music is music, am I right? So anyway they brought me to a local music school for group lessons on Saturday mornings. I hated it! All these dopey kids who hated it as much as I did! I couldn’t stand the stupid accordion and
plus all the good tv shows were on and
I was missing them! So after maybe a month of that nonsense, they found me a teacher who came to the house after school once a week, every week for what seemed like an eternity. Eventually I was finally able to convince them that there was no accordion anywhere on any song by The Beatles, nor was there any accordion on any other song on the two or three AM stations that played Beatles, Stones or Dylan (my older cousins turned me on to all the hip sounds!) I tuned in on my little 9 volt transistor radio. When I saw the handle on Bob’s website (now, many years ago) I was instantly drawn to it. It reminded me of
something, I just didn’t know what. Then it all clicked (see above ramble). At the time I was on a Motherlode kick. This is the only one I’ve held on too (again, see above ramble).
MdC Nature is the gentlest soap in my drawer. It’s a very thirsty soap. Takes way more water than others. It was the perfect antidote for the Tabac debacle. To finish it off I went sans menthol today. Instead we opted for the always sure to please, slightly petrolic-banana scented, soothingly fabulous splash, the one and only Swiss Pitralon. This gets the call after any rough shave (hoarder alert: I have two backups), which it wasn’t today, but after what my skin looked and felt like after it’s brief run in with Tabac I figured it smart to go with soothing. The Weber/GC .76 pairs beautifully with a Personna Platinum Chrome. It’s smooth, effective and efficient and is my current heart throb.
