1 July 2024 Face Prep: Warm water face wash with Meijer Aloe Vera liquid soap, patted dry Razor Prep: Foil and blade prepared with Wahl Total Care spray a couple of shaves ago Pre-shave: Afta Pre-Electric Shave Lotion Razor: Remington XLR-600 Blade: Remington SP-42 Foil: ShaverAid Post-shave: daylogic Arctic Blue (Vi-Jon) My face goes through multi-year cycles where blade shaving OR electric shaving works best. After a string of total-disaster DE shaves last week, I'm now in the electric cycle. It took a while, but aftermarket foils, cutters, and head assemblies are now available for many vintage and modern electric shavers, bringing some of the mix & match advantages of DE shaving to the realm of electric shaving. The new ShaverAid foil and low-mileage Remington cutter yielded a flawless, BBS shave out of the XLR-600, which was given to me brand new over 40 years ago. The only fault? This aggressive shaver is so efficient with the ShaverAid foil that the shave was over with too quickly to truly enjoy--and I did a meticulous job.

DE SOTD, Tuesday, July 2nd 2024 Razor : Yaqi Sentinel SSP with a Yaqi SSP tear drop handle. Mfg 2022>, mild to tame mid range. This razor looks similar to Wolfman W2 and the vintage Personna BB1. The 1.50mm works well and shaves more on the mild side when riding the cap(it will still bite). Machining and finish QC are excellent and a joy to use IMO. I should use it more but I have a lot of other excellent top tier razors in my rotation on-going always. Had a close comfortable shave this morning. Blade : Gillette Perma-Sharp (3) sharp and smooth with reasonable longevity. Soap : Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore, nice scented soap with Vanilla and light tobacco fragrances with excellent lather qualities. Brush : Yaqi" Ever helpful" 22 mm 2band badger. Excellent lather generator, pillow soft tips, very nice backbone for scrubbing but soft tips + great lather painter. This little brush is excellent for facial scrubbing but offers nice tips for folks who enjoy a scrub. Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area. Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups. Post shave : Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore splash with witch hazel + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless). Results : or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + 2 blemish weepers= Had a close comfortable shave this morning with my Yaqi Sentinel with a Perma-Sharp blade. Have some great shaves!

2 July 2024 E-SOTD Face Prep: Warm water wash with Meijer Aloe Vera liquid soap, patted dry Pre-Shave: Pinaud Clubman Talc Brush: Van der Hagen Natural Boar Rzaor: Remington Micro Screen XLR-600 Blade: Remington SP-42 Foil: ShaverAid Post-Shave: daylogic Arctic Blue Years ago, I used to use the Remington Face Saver stick as my electric pre-shave preparation. It's essentially a stick of cornstarch and talc, so...why not just use talc powder or a cornstarch/talc blend? As it turned out, talc worked just as well as the Face Saver stick, and I haven't bought the sticks since. To use for electric shaving, wash face, dry it thoroughly, and apply a sparing amount of talc to your beard with your fingertips. Then, take an unloved, completely dry shaving brush and aggressively swirl it around the whiskers, and finally brush your beard with ATG strokes to stand it up. This VdH brush is rather loathsome to use with soap or cream, but is just perfect for this job. Today's shave was even better than yesterday's BBS shave. A couple of hints at razor bumps indicated that I'm at the limit of how I aggressive I can get with my electric shaves. With proper face prep, the razor just glides across my face, and there's never a pull or tug. You don't feel it working, but you sure can hear when stubble is getting mowed down. And, joy of joys, it was if I had used Clubman shaving cream. My washroom had that unmistakable aroma lingering around for hours after the shave. Gotta love it!
