DE SOTD, July 3rd 2024 Razor : Razorock 2nd generation Lupo.72. Mfg or released Jan 2021, mid range. Well machined and finish QC + excellent design. I just simply enjoy this razor, it checks all the boxes for easy loading blade to getting under the nose nostril area. To bad they did not have this razor back in 2017 when I started using DE razors because it maybe of saved me a few dollars, I used cartridge razors for over 35 years. Had a close comfortable stellar shave this morning. Blade : Gillette Perma-sharp (4) sharp and smooth with reasonable longevity. Soap : Razorock Santa Maria del Fiore, very nice scented soap with vanilla and light tobacco with excellent lather qualities. I prefer the soap scent more than the SMDF A.S for some reason. Brush : Yaqi "Lucky dice" 26mm brown whiskers synthetic. Excellent lather generator, Luxury, heavenly cloud like soft tips, nice gentle splay scrubber + excellent lather painter. One of my best synthetic brushes and in a fan knot ! Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area. Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups. Post shave : Ogallala Bayrum and Sandalwood + a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless). Results : or CCS,DFS,BBs + no irritation + 1 blemish weeper = Had a close comfortable stellar shave this morning with my RR Lupo.72 with a Gillette Perma-sharp blade. Have some great shaves!

3 July 2024 Pre-shave: Face washed with warm water and VdH Unscented Glycerin Shave Soap Razor: Gillette Slim, setting 2 Blade: Tatra Platinum, 1st shave Soap: Mama Bear's Aromatic Pipe Tobacco, face-lathered Brush: RazoRock Snowman Post-Shave: Aqua Velva Ice Balm After a run of total-disaster DE shaves two weeks ago, I gave my face a break and went to electrics. Today, I dialed in my most gentle DE setup and cautiously set about getting back to traditional shaving. I've been working on this tub of Mama Bear's soap for some 15 years now, and it gets easier to lather as the years go by. It face-latthered to perfection in hardly any time at all today, and proved to be the right tool for the task at hand. The Tatra blade pulled and dragged for the first three swipes, then was buttery smooth thereafter. As expected with Tatra, there were no nicks, weepers, or irritation. But, the shave ultimately wasn't all that close, and not as good as my past few electric shaves. I'll open the Slim up to 3 next shave and give the Tatra another go. This bottle of AV Ice Balm is getting a bit long in the tooth, too, and its fragrance isn't what it used to be. Thankfully, it's almost gone.
