Does any one know when Schick changed there injector magazines from brass to the black version or the other way around ? & when they then changed to aluminium. Any help will be gratefully received thank you.
Not real helpful, but the black ones I've only seen from Supply. Sent from my Pixel 4a using Tapatalk
I have seen the Supply ones, there are definitely ones from Schick. I have enlarged a photo of one & you can just see Schick on it.
I have found the answer from https://www.razors.click/safetyrazors.net/SchickYear/ it says Blades in black metal injectors, 1942-43 only for armed forces. & aluminum injectors were introduced along side brass ones in 1946, which makes sense just after WW2
That is mostly true, they made the black ones for the full duration of the war into 1945 and were used primarily with sets meant for the US Navy. They nay have done the same for other military branches. The coating was to prevent salt water corrosion and one of the same reasons Gillette didn't make any military contract razors in brass during WWII.
That all ties together, the US entered WWII on the 7th of December 1941 after the bombing of Pearl Harbor, Schick made no domestic razors between 1942-1945, Schick produced these razors in a Navy Blue clam shell case for the US Navy & a red clam shell case for the US Armed Forces, both with black coated blade magazines.
