Gave myself a nasty nick on my chin Monday. Goin' eSOTD while it heals up...
Face brush-washed with Van der Hagen Natural brush and Stirling Mentholated Shave Soap
Face air-dried while I took a shower
Pinaud Clubman talc as pre-shave, applied with RazoRock Snowman brush
Remington XLR-800 shaver
ShaverAid foil (aftermarket)
Remington SP-42 cutter (aftermarket cutters are available)
50/50 blend Barbasol Brisk/Vi-Jon "Brut" with a dash of Clubman VIBR
METHODOLOGY: Up and down and 'round and 'round with ultra-light-pressure ATG passes at the end.
SHAVE CLOSENESS: Excellent. Just barely missed being BBS
SHAVE COMFORT: Excellent. The ShaverAid foil doesn't heat up as much as the Remington SP-40 foil.
NICKS/IRRITATION: None
SHAVE LONGEVITY: Very good. Shave looked presentable 10 hours later, but felt a bit scratchy
FRAGRANCE LONGEVITY: The 50/50 ASL blend faded away in about 20 minutes, followed by the Stirling soap fragrance in about 90 minutes...leaving only the Clubman, which hung in there for about three hours. Very pleasant!
OVERALL: I'm glad I have good electric setups at the ready for when I butcher my face. The brush action, Stirling soap, and Clubman talc make it nearly as satisfying and luxurious as DE shaving.
COMMENTS: The Stirling Mentholated Pre-Shave soap is really marvelous stuff, even for electric shaving. My shavers just glide right along, and my face is so soft and smooth afterward, I really don't need aftershave lotion.
