Hi, I've got an electric shaver circa 1940 (Remington Model P) - I'm searching for a user manual and parts information. Thanks!!!

Welcome to the forum. We are a bunch of wet-shavers that use blades. You may not find any electric shaver experts here. Post some pictures and let us see what you have.

Thanks for the prompt reply! This shaver is a dual voltage (110 VAC and ?? VDC) shaver that I'm attempting to refurbish. The motor 'jumps' when power is applied, but nothing thereafter. I'm looking for any technical information on this unit as well as any recommendations on troubleshooting. shaver front 071424.jpg

I'm probably the biggest electric shaver enthusiast here on The Shave Den, and use vintage Remington electrics myself. Welcome aboard!

If you could show us a picture of the shaving head, that would be helpful. Most of the really old Remingtons had self-sharpening heads that were designed to last indefinitely with only periodic cleaning and lubrication. A very thin cleaning brush with radial bristles was included with these shavers.

You won't have to look very long on eBay to find old Remingtons with the instruction booklet included, and occasionally images of all the pages are included with the listing. Look for those listings, and find a shaver that's equipped with heads and slots that look just like yours. The booklet will show how to disassemble, clean, lubricate, and reassemble the head assembly. Since your motor runs for an instant and then stops, doing a disassembly and cleanup job may unjam it, and it might work again.

Until recently, Remington made a Shaver Saver spray to lubricate electric shavers, and it worked very well. Nowadays, you can buy and use Wahl Total Care spray, which I think may work even better than Shaver Saver.

As far as parts go...buying identical shavers on eBay for parts is your only real option. That crack I see in the bakelite case of your shaver is rather worrisome; perhaps your shaver is jammed because it got dropped.

My fist razor was my grandfathers dual head Norelco ...... It was vintage then. It gave very nice shaves.

Those old DoubleHeader shavers are easy to find on eBay. If I didn't already have four good electrics, I'd consider getting one to refurbish...but I'd more likely get a vintage TripleHeader Adjustable just like the one my Dad once used. I got to use his a few times as a teen and it shaved nicely.
