  1. Doing the comparison of my I-1 and G-3 razors will be awhile.

    Shaving with my 13/8 Art Razor and my 10/8 Max Sprecher straights is just like shaving with my regular sized straights. The difference is that I have to turn my face a little more away from my mirror to get a better view and to adjust the angle of attack due to the thickness of the spine.

  2. Very happy with the middle round of Mike's/Bill Neumann. Again nice loading work at the Loading Dock. I don't know the actual name of the brush for today, but it's a real nice one. Clean and clear shave all around. At one point, I thought I was getting a Knick, but the Bill Neumann cleaned it off later. More on BN in a bit. 2 passes. Goose-eggs on the cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. The aforementioned Bill Neumann was a nice finish. On the BN website, you see that they appear to feature their "1911" set, giving you the opinion that they think very highly of their "1911"(course they don't mean to imply they think LOWLY of their other offerings...I certainly don't). No cologne today. As Outstanding As It Gets.

  4. Great shave Chris. There's no need to go to a higher setting if you are getting great shaves at setting 6 unless you have a 5 day beard growth.

  11. Thank you, Joe. A paltry of approximately 100 DE blades. My personal paltry is approximately 500-750+, and that's just an educated guess.
  12. Thank you, Gary.

    Sample Sterling soap
    , Slim I4, Satsuma, Schick Blade (4), Santal Spirit Sandalwood

    11 Sep 2024.jpg

    1 Days growth

    Usual Prep and Preshave = Faulding’s shave cream
    Cream/Soap = Sterling Satsuma
    Brush = Omega Big Boar 10049
    Bowl = Timeless
    Razor = Gillette Slim I4 set at 7
    Blade = Vintage Schick Ultra Platinium (4)
    Passes = 2 +
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayers rose petal
    ASL = Imperial Leather
    Scent = Santal Spirit Sandalwood
    Score = 9 / 10
    Damage = no blood, but this was a close shave with the Slim @7.

    I had the Slim still set at 6 from my previous shave, but decided to try 7 and see what happened

    Unfortunately the blade was fading, needing more strokes per area to get close, so this was binned. No point in asking for trouble

    Overall great shave, still thinking about setting the Slim @8 or @9 with a fresh blade but with more than one days' growth....

    Have a great Wednesday one and all
  14. thank you kindly Joe

    Lovely shave Joe, cool morning, cool MMOC shave

    Yes I think you mentioned something about that in one your shaving videos.

    Thanks Gary,

    Well there you have it: permission from @Trigger to not shave for 5 days! Don't think I could cope though!

    Sharp shave and pic Gary, almost tempting me back in to the rabbit hole ;)

    That's more like it Barry, protection against the razor blade police. Anyway Joe @Trigger has the Big Straights to play with, those must count for a couple of hundred each, right Lol!
  15. A nice way to finish the Mike's/Bill Neumann set. For some reason, the right cheek felt a little rough as I went through it. Worked out well, though, as did everywhere else. 2 passes. No cuts, Knicks, Polka-dots. Good job from the BN "1911" aftershave. Pairs well with Mike's(or any unscented soap). Course I could buy BN's "1911" SHAVE SOAP to make the perfect match for the A.S. Might be a good idea to give me more BN variety for the upcoming "Neumann November". Super Duper Outstanding.

  16. Late post:

    Tuesday Sept 10 (morning) - SE Supply, Synthetic, Semogue, Stirling September

    Prep: Hot face wash with Aleppo olive oil soap w/ 20% bay laurel oil (traditional anti-acne)

    Razor: Supply 2.0 matte black stainless steel injector w/ SE "nickproof" comb plate / Personna white box (5)

    Soap: Stirling Scots Pine Sheep

    Brush: Semogue SOC cherrywood badger re-knotted with APShaveCo Tuxedo synthetic

    Lather Bowl: None

    Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Stirling Scot Pine splash

    Last shave: Friday evening - 3.5 days

    The setup:

    IMG_20240906_173749_6_kindlephoto-381016627.jpg

    The result: excellent.

    I shook out out my brush properly this time so it was just damp. No messy spray and good lather on the face.

    The Stirling soap lathered quickly and easily and provided excellent slickness and protection.

    Love the fine fall scent of the Scots Pine -- a strong coniferous forest smell.

    I did one pass WTG and a second XTG. That left me acceptably cleanshaven. The alum gave no feedback, and I had no nicks, blood spots or razorburn.

    This time I remembered the splash and enjoyed an extra woodsy finish to the shave.

    Hope everyone is having a good week so far.

    Good morning.

    Shavette Shave #575
    Dovo
    Personna Hairshaper Blade (14)
    JR #290
    TSD Orange SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 39.5hrs

    I want to dedicate this shave to those that died on 9-11.
    I brought out my trusty Dovo shavette for this special memorial shave.
    Picked out the TSD Orange set because the scent is muted in keeping with the solemnity of this day.
    Did a 3 pass error-free BBS shave and I am glad because I didn't want to mess it up for giving honor to those that died that day.

    Here's my lather:

    20240911_110209.jpg

    Had very little alum feedback. Splashed on the witch hazel and the matching aftershave to end this session. Take care.
  18. Wonderful Wednesday shave and setup Gary. I never tried the Gillette 7 o'clock blues. I don't know if you tried the 7 o'clock green Permasharp. If you did, then how do thy compare?
