  1. I was actually wondering more about the Captain's Choice products: you were using a cream here but I think I have seen you using their soaps too. Any preference between them - any feeling they do one better than the other? With TOBS, for example, I have always thought they do creams better than soaps.

  2. I get the same lather quality whether I use Captain's Choice soap or cream. Like I stated, I find shave cream easier to lather.

    (Face & Head Shave)

New Shave set up to start the weekend. It's been a while since I last used the Mühle R41. Using the lightest of touch it mowed through my face stubble with effortless ease with no irritation weepers, or cuts.

"What a wonderfully efficient shaving tool the Mühle R41 is". I need to start using this razor more often.

The Feather Hi Stainless are superb blades but only give me two amazingly very smooth & efficient shaves, then the longevity & smoothness of them deteriorates, which isn't a big issue for me. I'm not a one to push a blade to just get an extra shave from it. I always have "Quality, rather than quantity" in mind with any blade I'm shaving with regardless of its cost or reputation.

I find over-sharpness in a blade is an Achilles heel and burns out quickly that's why I prefer DE blades that are slightly less sharp as in my personal opinion they keep their cutting edge longer & overall are more durable to use.

A close comfortable face & head shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a few small dollops of Ard Al Zafran Dirham Oud EDP to the pulse points.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth and smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy the start of the weekend ladies & gentlemen.

    Friday - October 4

    SRS # 1180

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Genco - Getico 5/8”
    Brush: Semogue Torga C5
Pre-Shave: Pears Soap - Mint Extract
    Lather: Stirling Sandpiper
    Aftershave: Floïd The Genuine
    Additional Care:
    Maggards Alum
    Nivea Sensitive Balm
    Thayer’s Witch Hazel - Original

Excellent three pass shave with the Genco straight. The Stirling lather never disappoints, always slicks and lathers very easily.

Another hot one coming up here at the Southern Den. Yes, Joe, @Trigger, the pool was on tap today as we were catching up with one of my high school buddies at his complex. Of course it is always a good time.

Hope you all had an enjoyable day.

    Ozark Mountain and Prada Ocean

    05 Oct 2024.jpg

A new sample soap 1.1 oz around 31 grams: interesting it smells kind of a bit of cloves, or maybe just lightly spiced but very pleasant, kind of reminds me of mild bay rum

Nice to bring out a Gillette again, very nice weight, the OC does get closer than the 37C and does its job really well. Very pleasing shaver, good balance

Gillette Vintage blade day 3, super smooth 2 passes with some touch ups

The Prada Ocean and Fine Latigo provided a wonderful olfactory start to a great Saturday

Have a great Saturday one and all

  13. Great photo and report, Barry!

That is a very common comment about Feather DE blades: super sharp but super quick to dull too. Almost nobody seems to get more than two shaves out of them.
  14. Nice razor! Odd, but I don't think I have ever used any Razorock products.

Hope you enjoyed a great family visit. My brother is coming to visit from BC in a couple of weeks. First time meeting in person since shortly before the pandemic hit...

But shouldn't the "Oud Dude" be using an Oud scent for October?
