I perked up while I watched James Stewart changing lens on his mid 1950's vintage 35 mm SLR. I obsessed over cameras long before I knew about vintage shaving! . I wanted to know what that camera was. Turns out someone else already figured it out. https://petapixel.com/2024/04/03/tracking-down-and-testing-the-camera-from-rear-window-1954/
This was my first time seeing it. It is excellent-- tense, horrifying, and thought-provoking. I was quite surprised to see Raymond Burr as the bad guy. This was made was just a couple of years before he became Perry Mason.
Last night, we watched Arsenic and Old Lace- our favorite Halloween movie. Tonight, for Day of the Dead, we will watch The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra.
“Killers of the Flower Moon”. Interesting story, but the movie ran needlessly long. Others may disagree, but I thought it wasn’t DiCaprio’s best effort
Most recently, three Liam Neeson movies: The Marksman Honest Thief Before and After My Bride likes Agatha Christie. Yesterday, she watched Murder on the Orient Express. Death on the Nile is on tap today.
Phantom Ship- made in 1936, featuring Bela Lugosi. It is VERY loosely based on the Mary Celeste, a “ghost ship” of the late 1800’s
Song of the South I've always wanted to see the full length film and finally found it. Not to be insensitive I didn't see anything blatantly offensive about it. I'd let my grand daughters watch it. After seeing some of the recent Disney movie that have came out; there's nothing wrong with "Song of theSouth".
I just watched that. I thought it got off to a slow start, but later picked up & told its story quite well.
Same here, Sara. Glad you enjoyed the movie. We recently watched "The Band of Brothers" mini-series on Netflix. It is a well-done (although very raw) documentary about the 101st Airborne Division in WW II.
