  4. 13 Nov 2024

    1 Days growth
    Similar setup…
    Soap = Lea soap
    Brush =Semogue OC Finest Badger, soaked, shaken lightly
    Bowl = Timeless bowl (is it my imagination or does this bowl create more bubbles in the lather?)
    Razor = No 66 Gillette birth year Aristocrat: 4th time out.
    Blade = Vintage Gillette super stainless (1)
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayers rose petal, Nivea Balm
    ASL = Clubman Whiskey Woods
    Scent = Bulgari Wood Essence
    Damage = none, but the Alum was fairly noticeable for a short time
    Passes = 2 plus liberal clean ups

    80 swirls and around 8 cc water for abundant lather

    The No 66 and the Vintage Gillette Blade were super smooth even on Day 1 of the new blade
    Markedly different to the Kai. I anticipate getting 3 good and maybe one extra shave out of this blade. It’s almost as if you have to try really hard to do any damage

    Of course some parts of the beard map can take more pressure than others, other areas do still need a light touch, par for the course

    Very enjoyable and comfortable smooooooth shave

    Have a great Wednesday one and all

  5. For this morning(Wednesday), I came back with Stoylin Ramblin Man, but had a different

    Brush-Crown King(Duro Spindle Tali)

    Very happy again with the overall result. Clean and clear all over.I was glad I did better on both sides of Porcupine Alley than yesterday(that is, no extra work was needed). 2 passes. No damage(cuts, Knicks, Polka-Dots, Red Ball Sunsets). Good close with the Stoylin RM aftershave. I should use RM more than I have been-it's nice. As Outstanding As It Gets.

    SRS # 1202

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: AJ Jordan Old Faithful Cocolobo scales
    Brush: Sawdust Creation Studio Working Man Blues
    Pre-Shave: Pears Transparent Soap
    Lather: PAA Atomic Age Bay Rum
    Aftershave: FreyjasMagic Thor’s Hammer Bay Rum
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

    Sticking with the theme for the month with either Bay Rum or Dark scented shaves. This tub has been designated as the next tub to meet up with the Edmund Fitzgerald. If all goes according to plan the matter should be taken care of before the New Year. I estimate approximately 35 grams of soap left in the tub.

    The A J Jordan straight delivered an exceptionally smooth and comfortable shave this morning. The scent of the soap and splash were a perfect match for our chilly start to the morning. The usual three passes to get the job done.

    Hope you all have a great day.

  10. I would venture to guess that it is your imagination. I get a great lather with the Tumeless bowl. I used it exclusively with the Tim’s Soap Busta’s Blend which I just finished. Great shave Chris.

  14. November 13 SOTA

    Good afternoon.

    Straight Razor Shave #585
    Ralf Aust
    MrEE LE #10 Cashmere Brush
    Angora Soaps Midnight Lavender SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Personal Care Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 48.5 hrs

    20241113_160515.jpg

    I went with my other Ralf Aust straight razor and it still is sharp. Did a three pass error-free shave for a BBS smooth shave.
    I haven't used Midnight Lavender from Angora Soaps so it was about time. It's my only puck in my den and once it's gone then that's it because that company no longer exists so I use it judiciously. Anyway, here is my lather:

    20241113_161014.jpg

    I got a alum zing under my chin, but that was it. Splashed on the witch hazel and the glorious matching aftershave to put the cherry on top of this shave. Take care.
