Lather: Bath House Spanish Fig & Nutmeg Shaving Soap.
Blade: Dorco Prime Platinum. (D1)
Razor: Baili BD177 Rose Gold TTO.
Razor: Gillette Guard. (Head) (D1)

A wonderful performance from the Baili BD177/Dorco Prime Platinum + Gillette Guard to finish my last face & head shave of 2024 in style.

Finishing the shave off a with a few small squirts of Hugo Boss Dark Blue EdT to the pulse points.

My face & precious swede are feeling smooth & smelling divine.

The Tabac Shave Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #1 Silvertip Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette 1905 Double Ring razor and the Gillette Silver Blue Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Tabac After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

DE SOTD, Tuesday, Dec 31st 2024

Razor : Razorock Lupo.72 316 SSP, Mfg 2021>, mid range. Excellent machining, finish + design makes for 95>% excellent shaves for myself.
Blade : GSB(1) Sharp and smoooth + hard to beat a winner of a blade for overall performance.
Soap : Razorock XXX croap, very nicely scented + excellent lather qualities.
Brush : Yaqi (red Zebra) 26mm snow leopard synthetic , just a excellent lather performer of luxury face feel.
Pre shave : (Dedicated Cashmere synthetic)Brush wash whole face with CeraVe hand bar cleanser with a dollop of clear Aloe Vera on the cleaned beard area.
Prep : Cold water rinse after each pass of 2 + pickups. WTG + ATG + pickups.
Post shave : Razorock XXX with witch hazel+ a dollop of CeraVe moisturizing lotion(scentless).
Results : or CCS,DFS,BBS + no irritation + no weepers= Had a close comfortable stellar shave this morning with my RR Lupo.72 razor and a GSB blade.

Slowly working on making the razors that I didn't like at first work for me. The first revelation was my Post-War Tech, which with some trial and error went from my most "meh" razor to one of my top choices.

Then it was flare tip Superspeeds (although I actually liked them from the start).

Now, trying to master the Slims. To date I have not been able to consistently get shaves that would be both smooth and efficient on the same level as the Superspeeds. I have been slowly dialing them down, switching from 6 to 5 and now 4. Already realize that, like with most vintage Gillettes, the proper blade is a must. While my modern razors can work with a variety of blades, the Gillettes need sharp blades to shine - e.g. Astra SP is great in a Parker Variant, but borderline usable in a Superspeed. For me, at least. The blades that do perform well in my vintage Gillettes are Nacets, GSBs, Feathers and Perma-Sharps. Perhaps also some of the 7 O'clocks. Luckily I have ample supply of all of them.

Despite being as sick as a dog I couldn’t go without a shave this morning. I grabbed the first thing in front of me which was the Florena cream from Germany - it’s no longer available here in Canada unfortunately and it’s a pity because it’s so good. It sold here for very cheap money, it has a very nice scent, it’s so easy to lather up with, and the chamomile in it gives such a relaxing, soothing postshave feeling on my skin. The Lubriderm moisturizer and the Mosswood aftershave were a perfect finish. Two passes were good enough to get BBS. Now I think I’ll take a nap because I feel crummy.
