Next up on the Gillette tour this month is another birth year razor, the E3 Fatboy. This is a new acquisition which joins my other Fatboy that will be up tomorrow night. Great condition on this razor, really super and it was a great price too.

I paired the Fattie with a Gillette 7 O'Clock Super Stainless blade. Sharp and smooth, and a good choice anytime. I opened the Fatboy up all the way to 9, because that's just how I roll, and anticipated a great shave.
Soap was Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum, and my custom badger/boar brush didn't hold back on the lather. Love the luxurious yet slightly scritchy feel of this brush. I could make this a daily driver. The razor and blade worked exactly as they should and I did a full three pass, simply because I wasn't done after two. My shave was probably done, but I wanted more of that brush and lather and another run with that Fatboy gap and angle. Finished up after with the Ogallala Bay Rum and it was a fantastic finish.
Since we've mentioned blade gaps and aggression during the time spent with the four early Super Speeds I'll include some data here on the Fatboy. The Red Tip SS has a gap of .029 inches making it the largest gap of those razors. It's also the heaviest at 65 grams. The Fatboy at 9 features a .045 gap and weighs 78 grams. The combination of larger gap and heavier razor definitely makes it a more aggressive choice. However, you can start the Fatboy at number 1, giving you a gap of .022 inches. Smaller gap than the Red Tip, but the weight of the razor will still have an effect. Blade angle is also a consideration, but gap and weight are good indicators. The Fatboy did not disappoint tonight.
Some may ask if the Fatboy is the razor with the largest gap and weight in an adjustable. Nope. That honor goes to the Merkur Futur with a maximum gap of .069 inches (suitable for de-barking trees), and weighs 125 grams. Just some trivia (and foreshadowing) to enhance your day.
Job interview went very well. They have a couple more interviews to get through then they'll make their decision. I'm good where I'm at, would be a bit better there, so I'm happy with how things happen. Enjoy your day!
