  1. A fine February intro, Joe! And some great choices.

I will be doing Fine-tuning February at least to start. The temp is still bouncing up and down here so I am still keeping the beard. It needs some trimming and shaping around the edges though - such as getting rid of the "neckbeard" part.

I will see where things go as the month progresses - FatBoy, Fougere, Fine, Fatip or just plain Favourites are all possibilities...

  2. Great start to the month, Barry! Always good to avoid the Japanese flags while shaving.
  3. Nice setup, Chris! And it sounds like it was a good shave despite the lather being thinner than you prefer.

When I had MWF, iirc, I usually loaded the brush on the puck for about twice as long as for any other soap and that did the trick. To be honest, MWF was never my favourite soap.
  4. Good start to the month, Paul! "No damage anywhere" is always a great result.
  5. Nice setup, Joe. I think I still have a Parker SRX in my cupboard.

Have a great day not skiing and lounging in a comfortable warm lodge while the young'uns freeze on the slopes!
  6. Thank you John.
  7. Great photo and writeup, Neal! Sounds like you are starting off with Futur February. Interesting to hear the comparison between the Real German Deal and the Chinese Knockoff Copy. Personally I wouldn't touch either razor with a bargepole. I prefer a razor with a blade gap somewhere around a 3 or 4 on the FatBoy dial rather than an auxiliary woodchipper.
  8. Great setup (and pic) to start the month, Gary.

Crown Shaving Co. make good stuff, although I think I have the Balm instead of the Splash. Maybe I should pick up the Splash too...

I also have a Gillette SuperAdjustable (aka Black Beauty) but mine is the more common Long rather than the Short. When I sold off my matching trio of Delta Echo Razors refurbished and cerakoted Gillette adjustables, I ended up selling the Slim and the FatBoy but keeping the Black Beauty. I don't miss the Slim at all but am a bit sorry about the FatBoy. The Black Beauty always gives a fine shave though.
  9. Thanks Joe.

I decided to open the month with my trusty Dovo shavette with a brand new Personna Hairshaper Blade loaded into it. Man oh man, what a glorious shave! I really only needed 2 passes, but I like to do 3. I got an error-free BBS shave.
It looks like I only have one more session with this particular puck and I definitely will be glad so that I can move on to another soap. Btw, I still have an unused puck of this soap. Lol!

The alum feedback was present, but it felt nice. There wasn't any loud zings or stings. Finished with the matching aftershave. Tomorrow will be a headshave. I probably pick the Rockwell T2 or the Fatboy to do the job. I won't know until tomorrow. I don't need the pressure of deciding right now. Lol! Take care.
  16. thank you John.:):eatdrink047:i had avoided these later adjustables due to their problems with handle corrosion, but i'm glad i found this one at a local antique swap meet.inspecting before purchase is a must unfortunately.;)the crown splash smells a bit like licorice..:) and performs well.,a bit sticky for a minute or 3..
