I have been doing this for the last 25 years or so. I can't remember what it was like to have hair, and honestly can't imagine it.

I am fortunate to live in a small Texas town, Hondo. My baber has been at it for over 50 years. His son is his partner and will keep the shop going.

I've recently got a taper fade haircut, and I love it! However, I have a few questions on how to maintain it and keep it looking sharp. The fade seems to grow out quickly, and I'm wondering how often I should go for a trim to keep the shape. Also, I'm curious about the best styling products for taper fades. Should I use a pomade or gel to add texture, or is there something else that works better? Any tips for keeping the taper fade haircut fresh would be much appreciated!

@joshuakenneth Find a barber that charges less for a trim than a full haircut, then go for the trim as soon as you feel it's needed.
As for pomade or hair gels, never felt a need. But that's me.

My husband has been shaving his head for years. Looks very good on him. For me, I like to stick with one stylist, as I have long, thick curly hair. I love it that way. But sometimes stylists see it as something they would love to experiment on. Such stylists are to be avoided.

Not exactly related, but my favorite/only nephew just got his barbering license. Suddenly he has an opinion on everyone's haircut and style in the family. :scared011:

Since I retired I decided not to cut my hair anymore. It's grown out nicely and when it gets a little too leggy I will take a couple inches off.

What does that mean....you want to grow it down to your legs?

My nephew was like that, but not with hair. For a time, he was working in a clothing store, and got me nice shirts/sweaters when Xmas and my birthday came around.

Once it merges with the back hair, he will have no need for clothing at all. Saves lots of money that way.

This!!! I've found someone who has agreed to braid my head and back hair together. That's gonna be fire!

You're right. Before you know it you'll be seeing kids running around with head and back hair braided and their pants pulled down below their ass. I still say, if you are running away from the cops, how do you run away from the cops wearing those things?

It's all to distract the attention away from the fake? pearl chokers that young guys seem to be wearing these days. Blech.

    You mean like this?

I've not yet seen that fashion trend on men. I'd never be caught dead wearing something like that. I do like how they look on a beautiful woman however.
