As a certified boar guy, you shouldn't be so quick to write off the Duke. That is Simpson's overstuffed badger model, if I remember correctly. It ought to have the same kind of backbone as a boar, without as much scritch.
You remember correctly, lots of backbone in the Duke. The post was meant to be humorous considering I paid 5 dollars each for them. Reminded me of the day I found two FatBoys in pristine condition for 10 bucks each. Every now and then I get lucky when I'm haunting antique and/or thrift stores.

Hey Friends, Here my latest addition to my den… Yaqi Bohemia…a Chinese razor which has been loosely „cloned“ from the „Bohin“ razor from France around the 1930´s. Very good quality and with 131g a little bit on the heavier side. You can switch the baseplate and you have the option number 1 with 0.95mm blade gap or option 2 with 1,35mm blade gap. Both sides should be very very smooth and gentle. The regular handle which came with the head is hollow, so i am thinking of replacing it, with my Barbaros handle which is quite a bit shorter, a little thicker and not hollowed so it will add a bit more weight to it. Sunday will be it´s maiden voyage, let´s hope we will be friends because i am in love with the optical aspect this razor gives. It is a real special design which i love. Greetings Thorsten
Hi all We'll see how it compares to my cheap Italian soaps As soon as I got it I already cannibalized the handle of the razor I don't care about the Gillette Mach 3 cartridges. The brush tuft is great, although the handle seems a bit cheap. A rather expensive set received as a gift. I actually bought so many things in this 2025 that I don't want to clog up the forum. .
