I was looking to buy some inexpensive, but good blades for my daughter. I've always had very good luck with Voskhod, from Russia. They were $7.83 delivered, for 100 count, a few years back. Now they are right at $40. Wow!!! Maybe some Astra or Shark Platinums are what I will buy, still under $10 for 100 delivered.
IMHO, you can't go wrong with Astra. (And I bought enough years ago to hedge against pretty much everything. Lol)
I suspect the reason the Russian blades are so expensive is because Gillette pulled out of the country. I don't know what you like or need for your face or razor, of course, but there are many good to great options out there to try!
I think I would more expect a price increase when Gillette moves in, not out. But Voskhod is made by Mostochlegmash, not Petersburg Products.
Checked my stash to see if I need to buy any and apparently I have more than 22 years supply of DE blades. I’m afraid to count the injector packs.
I shared a bunch of blades with friends, so I'm down to a dangerously low 25-year supply. But hey, Danger is my middle name. Rule of thumb: every time the guy on TV says "buy gold" or "buy silver," I just buy more blades.
$17.30 for 200 on amazon: Astra Superior Platinum Double Edge Shaving Razor Blades 200 pcs Barber Favored https://a.co/d/8gUA49o
Is that considered a good price these days? I stocked up (pointlessly, as 10 blades is a year's supply for me these days) when Russian tanks crossed into Ukraine for about $6.50 per 100.
Just checked on Amazon and BiC Chrome Platinum blades have crept up slightly in price. My favourites from the Lord works are still going dirt cheap. Tatra blades, which had vanished for a while, are now back on offer
