    Terrific blue-tone shave, Gary!

    I've really been (and felt) buried in stuff lately, so sorry for nothing more than some 'like's on the forum, all. Hopefully I can find another couple moments for more than that today...

    Thank you Chris. I'm pleased that you like the Blue Stratos. It's a good inexpensive every day post shave application.

    Real nice shave this morning(Friday the 13th...yeeowww). I'm working on the first of two Proraso Refreshing tubs, PIFed by @wri. Thanks buddyyyy-(HAAAH, long lung breath). Clean, clear shave(no damage). As I'd hoped, I was more careful on the Skin-Bracer application. Maybe this is good "practice" for me to do better with the Aqua Velva. I really hope to solve the AV issue this summer(Niagra Falls, if I don't watch out). Anyway, As Outstanding As It Gets for today.

    My shave this morning was a 1-pass, because it was kinda early and my shave yesterday afternoon was very close.
    Today's soap was Spartacus from Ariana & Evans. I skipped the alum today, and went straight to Stirling's Ramblin' Man post-shave balm. It was a good shave.

    Spartacus is a nice scent. My best one-word description for it is "fruity," meaning it smells like fruit, not some off-color euphemism. It uses A&E's K2e soap base, which I've also used in their Aqua de Boracay soap. It offers good slickness, foam that holds together well, and good post-shave feel for me. Speaking of which, my one-word description of Aqua de Boracay is floral. They say it's marine or aquatic, but I smell only a slight whisper of that once in a while. Nevertheless, I doubt I'll buy more of A&E's soaps, simply because I do not want the xanthan gum they put in. That may seem odd, but there are many good options out there for me.

    The Cella extra extra Bio shaving cream provided a wonderful this vegan version is equally as good to it's tallow sibling and like the tallow version it's slick protective and doesn't dry out and leaves your skin feeling hydrated and smooth. The mild-light fresh & Citrusy ASL is very pleasing leaving a good post shave feel.

    Back to back shaves:

    Friday 13 Jun 2025

    1 Days growth

    [IMG]

    Hot Water Prep and Preshave = Derby Menthol
    Soap = Derby
    Brush = Pura Setola
    Bowl = White Plastic
    Razor = Eversharp Hydromagic black handle L-1
    Blade = Personna PTFE (4)
    Passes = 2 and done
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayer’s rose petal
    ASB = L’OCCITANE Homme CAP Cedrat provided the necessary skin protection
    ASL = Clubman Pinaud
    Scent = Pinaud Lime Sec Cologne

    20 swirls on the puck today, added glycerine to the lather for the 1st and the 2nd pass. Looked nice and shiny. Lathered up easily, but looked better than it performed.

    I might be imagining it but the SE blade felt a bit rougher today. Checked it was seated fine. Yup. A-OK. Might just be because of 2 days in a row SE shave. Could be the Derby is not as good as others. Might give this another run with different software in the days ahead.

    Lovely scent from the above combo, receiving my wife’s seal of approval

    Enjoy the weekend one and all

    Hot Water Prep and Preshave = Derby Menthol
    Soap = Derby with added glycerine
    Brush = Pura Setola
    Bowl = White Plastic
    Razor = Gillette No 66 1958
    Blade = Gillette 7 o’clock Sharp Edge (1)
    Passes = 2 and done
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayer’s rose petal
    ASB = L’OCCITANE Homme CAP Cedrat
    ASL = Clubman Pinaud
    Scent = Pinaud Lime Sec Cologne

    Much better shave today. Same software, so the roughness from yesterday was from the SE shave. Can’t be sure if it was the Hydromagic or the SE blade

    Either way I am glad I stuck with the Derby: it reassures me that it is good stuff. Got to get the right hardware and software working together

    Minor alum feedback
    As smoooooooooth as it gets

    Have a great day everyone

    Very good shave this morning. A minute at the Loading Dock for the synthetic brush I can't find a name to, and the Proraso soap. 2 healthy passes. No "issues of negativity". I wanted to try the MSC Unscented A.S. so as to get off a review for Pasteur Pharmacy, but that review will have to wait util tomorrow or Monday, as I reached for the Frosted Spearmint by mistake. It's a bit on the chilly side today, another reason I figured the Unscented would be better. My mistake leads me to dedicate this shave to @Yehuda D, as I came away with a scent and feel too cold for a day like today.It was nice though. Most Outstanding.

    Fine shave Chris. Glycerin does help to make a nice lather, especially if you have hard water.

    Good morning

    1959 Gillette Fatboy (7)
    Gillette 7 o'clock Super Platinum DE Blade (fresh, 2)
    Rockwell Synthetic Brush
    Captain's Choice 45th Parallel SS and AS
    Stirling Alum Block
    Lucky Witch Hazel
    Beard Growth: 3.75 Days
    Dome Turf: 7 days

    20250614_101607.jpg

    This was my setup for yesterday's shave, but I had a busy day so I decided to have my gruff look for one more day. I decided to bin the blade that was in the razor and replace it with a fresh blade so that it would be an efficient shave all around. Did two passes on the face and dome with some buffing to get a very close shave. Unfortunately, I got a weep on my chin, but disappeared with the cold water. Got a nick on the left side on the back of my neck. The stubble in that area has to be shaved against the grain and the only way I can do that is to use my left hand (non-dominant). I have nerve damage in that hand so it's another factor to make it ifficult to shave that area as well. Anyway, the nick isn't that serious.
    Had very little alum feedback on the shaved areas. Applied a generous amount of witch hazel and the matching aftershave. I am fine with the shave. I look more presentable. Take care.
