Here my Shave of the Day (15.06.2025)


Razor: Yintal Brass // Blade: Gillette Platinum // Soap: Taylor of old Bond Street Tobacco Leaf // Brush: homemade Brass Synthetic // Aftershave: Witch Hazel - Alt Innsbruck

A wonderful shave. I bought the soap directly in the store in London. What a great experience this was. This was the scent i was the most impressed with.

The lather was yoghurt-like and had tons of glide and cushion. The razor was smooth and gentle and the shave was done after 3 passes.

Splashed on some Witch Hazel followed by Alt Innsbruck which pairs wonderful with the soap.

10 out of 10

Switched to Regiment, as it was a cool morning, as have been the last few mornings. Regiment's a good company. A minute at the Loading Dock, which was comfortable with the small brush. 2 healthy passes. No damage. The unscented aftershave felt real smooth over my face and neck. I just wrote a review on it to Pasteur's Pharmacy. The weather should warm up some this week-it's back to normal-back to warm weather shave stuff.

*-WSS doesn't mention the name of Aqua Velva, just that it is menthol, with a barbershop scent. I at first thought it would be an AV clone, and perhaps it is, but it seems to be a good match for AV. In fact it does say it is "inspired by a classic blue-bottled aftershave".

On this Father's Day, I am proud to say my Dad's family lived in 2 Nebraska cities(York and Omaha), so glad to see your aftershave choice .

 

That makes it sound like my favorite Bay Rum to date(Stephan). Just the other day, I saw a reviewer say he likes the clove scent of Stephan's. I say, after years of enjoying it, that there may be SOME clove in it, but it's neatly mixed in with other scents. The reviewer shocked me with his review. I don't have sinus problems, sorry to hear about yours.

Thank you. Corn Huskers Lotion is a very good post shave lotion. I got the tip about it years ago from Mantic59 of the Sharpologist email newsletters. He mentioned in an article that the ingredients are near the same as Trumper's Skin Food. The scent isn't after-shavey but it's not bad either.

The TSD Iced Lemongrass Shaving Soap lathered well with Jayaruh #224 Synthetic Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gem Damaskene Open Comb Razor and the Personna GEM SS PTFE Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Mennen Skin Bracer After Shave. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

Guys, many times I’ve said that Rod and Mandy are not only two of the NICEST people anyone can find, they’re such geniuses when it comes to wetshaving products. Their Glacial Mango Sunrise soap is a gorgeously scented menthol atom bomb with awesome lather, the slickness is wonderful, and it’s so skin friendly like every Stirling product I have. The Stoffel balm is also a frigid delight, and the Northern Elixir aftershave also freezes like crazy - its scent is a nice blend of peppermint and eucalyptus. Finally the Invictus fragrance which I’m kind of on the fence about and I’m good to go - a couple of rounds of golf with some friends of mine today. Three passes delivered a beautiful BBS shave with plenty of icicles in my face!
