A quick update. Our Marine, Myles Wilson is being discharged tomorrow. He honorably served for four years. I remember when he just graduated high school and went right into the Marine Corps. Personally, I didn't think that he would make it out of boot camp, but he proved me wrong. He is been married over 1 year and is moving to Colorado. I just texted him and asked if he would be back posting here. He said that he would. You have my respect and admiration Myles @myles wilson.
Tuesday June 17 (late morning) - Jeeves / JTSpartan / Just Do the Basics June plus Menthol Tuesday I am doing a declared Rule this month using this setup for every shave: Prep: Cold face wash with MdC handsoap Razor: Matte black stainless steel Supply 2.0 injector with "nick-proof" SE comb plate / Supply White Label (house-branded Personna)(5) Soap: Jeeves of Hudson Street Private Study (later renamed simply "Bay Rum") Brush: Jason @jtspartan 30DC Limited Edition maple with cashmere synthetic knot Lather Bowl: None Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Jeeves of Hudson Street Bay Rum splash Last shave: Monday June 17 (evening) - 16 hours ago As I mentioned last evening, my usual two passes didn't quite get me from 14-day stubble to completely cleanshaven. I had patches of stubborn whiskers at the corners of my mouth and especially on my neck. So I did a clean-up shave this morning. I took a page from the Booke of Barry @palmolive fox and started with a COLD water wash instead of my usual hot one - to help the whiskers stand out from my skin for easier cutting. And this time, I reverted to doing my first pass on my neck ATG instead of WTG. That increases the risk of skin irritation but also increases the cutting power. It worked. My two passes removed all the missed patches of long whiskers from last night and cleaned off the overnight growth. Result is DFS. Alum was warm in spots but no visible nicks, blood spots or razorburn. The splash finished off a good cleanup shave.
Been off line for a couple days-my car's battery needed a jump start. Still don't have a computer, so I couldn't go to the library(where I am NOW). Anyway, this Wet Shave Sho soap is fantastic-this is my second day on the Aqua Velva clone. It's "cool", but you don't get the same chill as with AV aftershave. They work fine together, though. 0:40 at the Loading Dock(I'm finding that a minute isn't necessary to load this soap). 2 healthy passes. No damage. More Niagra Falls action with the AV aftershave. Shux. The scent is great, as it always has been. As Outstanding As It Gets.
Great way to treat yourself on your Seventieth birthday Joe: Straight, Sprecher, Seaforth and best of all “no dramas” Happy Birthday Joe thanks Joe Ok, i missed the joke, I don't watch much TV or hardly any movies these days Good to hear. The accursed autospell strikes again Lol! It's pretty endemic all over the world these days Lovely clean up and recovery John
18 Jun 2025 2 Days growth Hot Water Prep and Preshave = Derby Menthol shave cream Soap = ARKO tub ! Brush = Pura Setola Bowl = White plastic Razor = Gillette No 66 Blade = Wilkinson Sword white cardboard box made in China Passes = 2 and done Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayer’s rose petal ASL = Old Spice Scent = Stirling Spice EdT The Arko has lost some of its stank and no longer inspires hours and hours of the giggles. On the other it lathers superbly. Again, too much lather was achieved, but better more than less The Chinese Wilkinson Sword was OK, not on par with say the Gillette 7 o’clock sharp edge, but I will be generous and say it is quite smooth No damage. Great start to another rainy day
Lol! Great milestone don't you think? I am only 3 years behind you though! Yes, I thought I needed something nice to "cover up" the Arko, but I am actually not too averse to it atm
