    SE Shave # 356

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: GEM Micromatic Bullet Tip
    Blade: GEM Stainless (1)
    Brush: Semogue Hereditas - Boar
    Lather: Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux Lamplight Penance
    Aftershave: Chatillon Lux Lamplight Penance Toner
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum
    Dickenson’s Original Witch Hazel
    Stirling Unscented Glacial Balm

    Huge amount of lather with this morning’s shave. The lather just exploded with the assistance of the boar brush. The ensuing three passes left my face smooth and velveteen.
    Following this morning’s shave I met up with Joe, @Trigger, for our monthly breakfast. As usual we have a great conversation.

    Hope you all have had a great day. Joe is going to melt tomorrow.

    Wonderful shave and setup Joe. I agree that our meeting was great as usual. Unfortunately, we got a different waitress, but that's life.

    Greetings,

    (Face & Head Shave)

    A relaxing early morning face & head shave.

    A great cooling performance from the Ingram Shave Cream.

    The Vie-Long horse hair brush performed superbly. I find that with horse hair brushes painting on the lather gives the best shaving results when using shaving creams or croaps.

    Another close comfortable acceptable face & head shave with no errors to report.

    Finishing the shave off with a generous splash of Blue Stratos Original Blue ASL.

    My face & precious swede are feeling smooth and smelling divine.;)

    Stay safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.:cool:

    Hot Water Prep and Preshave = Derby Menthol shave cream
    Soap = Maca Root, aaaaahh, never disappoints
    Brush = Omega synthetic Black Hi-Brush
    Bowl = White
    Razor = Gillette Empire French set Goodwill '31-35
    Blade = Gillette 7 o’clock Sharp edge (2)
    Passes = 2 and some touch ups
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, (forgot the Thayer’s rose petal)
    ASL = Pinaud Clubman
    Scent = Santal Spirit Sandalwood

    Glorious Maca root lather. 20 swirls and around 4 cc water >>> way too much lather. This stuff is so good for OC razors. The goodwill has fairly sharp edges to the OC teeth which discourages the Gillette slide but presents the blade so well this is not needed

    DDF-DFS shave (delightful damage free DFS)

    Have a great Tuesday one and all

    Tuesday June 24 (early morning) - Dump the Rule Tuesday

    I was doing a declared Rule this month using this setup for every shave:

    IMG_20250602_123322.jpg

    However, since I decided to experiment with cold water shaving for awhile, I was changing the Rule's "moving parts" anyway, so I decided to dump it and change things up:

    I used this setup instead (except I stayed with Jason's 30DC LE brush shown above):

    IMG_20250325_043138.jpg

    Prep: Cold face wash with Aleppo olive oil and 20% bay laurel oil soap (traditional anti-acne)

    Razor: Matte black stainless steel Supply 2.0 injector with "nick-proof" SE comb plate / Supply White Label (house-branded Personna)(6)

    Soap: Crown Shaving Co Shave Cream

    Brush: Jason @jtspartan 30DC Limited Edition maple with cashmere synthetic knot

    Lather Bowl: None

    Post: rinse, alum, rinse, Crown Shaving Co Soothing After Shave Lotion

    Last shave: Tuesday June 17 (late morning) - 7 days ago

    The cold water face wash before shaving was quite bracing and helped me feel more alert. It also seemed to have the effect of making the whiskers stand out from the skin rather than softening them but also making them more inclined to "flop down" before the razor as hot water does..

    The Crown Shaving Co shave cream face lathers easily and provides excellent glide and protection as well as good post-shave skin care. Its ingredients include spearmint oil, which functions much like menthol, so the lather also tingles on the face.

    Two passes - one WTG and the next XTG - removed the stubble with no need of any cleanup passes.

    Alum was silent and I had no visible nicks, blood spots or razorburn. The lotion finished off a good shave.

    So far, I am thinking that cold water prep is the way for me to go in the future.

    Hope the week is treating everyone well so far.
