What's Your Preferred Retailer of Shaving Supplies?

Discussion in 'General Shaving Talk' started by RipWixomAssembly, Jan 29, 2025.

  1. Hello everyone, since I got into safety razor shaving a few years ago, I have been making my purchases exclusively through The Razor Company, as they are somewhat local to me, so I end up getting my orders relatively quick. I certainly look forward to hearing where you folks shop at, and your experiences with various retailers.

    Amazon
    Connaught Shaving
Whatever artisan site has the shaving soap I want
Whatever site Google finds with the product I want, if Connaught and Amazon don't have it.

It is not like the old days when there were just a few "forum favorite" vendors selling wetshaving gear. Now there are thousands.

Haven't bought a new razor or brush in eons. No future plans to do so - near 40 razors and some two dozen brushes is plenty for me.
Aftershave is Thayer's or Brut, picked up at the local grocery store.
Cologne, enough to last several more years.
That leaves blades - only use Astra SP from Amazon.
And soap - my next order will be from the TSD store (see tab to click at the top of the page)

Oh, so you ARE a Kent of Inglewood fan! I remember asking you if you'd heard of them, as I came across their website. I like some of their things.

I'm pretty price conscious. Some might call me cheap. I prefer frugal. But I've bought shaving gear from almost every retailer I've come across. And this was mostly several years ago as I pretty much have everything I could want shaving wise and don't remember the names of all the places. But here's a sampling: Connaught, Italian Barber, Stirling, Schone, West Coast Shaving, Maggards, Art of Shaving, Pasteurs, Shave Nation and even Amazon and eBay.

I've run out of brush space at my tiny sink. I have just one Jayaruh, but it's one of my favorites.

My 2 best razors are one I got from Amazon & one I get here, in a PIF. For blades, my favorite retailer is whoever has the best price on Feather blades.

I’ve bought from a number of sources over the years, but here are the ones I use most frequently now:
Thrift stores - when I was looking for vintage razors
Amazon - for blades, some other items on occasion
Italian Barber - soaps, aftershave, some other items on occasion - I really like their shave sticks and soap pucks.

    My main sources are:

Razor Emporium (semi-local to me, and I like to go there),
    The Razor Company,
    Stirling Soap Co.

I've also ordered from Maggard's and other sources a little. I don't buy a whole lot, because I can only use shave soap, after-shave, and blades just so fast, but that's who I get most everything from now. I enjoy going in to Razor Emporium. D.J. is friendly and helpful, and they have a very broad selection of items, including large numbers of vintage and vintage-refurbished razors. They'll also refurbish a razor you bring in. What they don't carry I can mostly get from TRC or directly from Stirling. I get Moon soap either from TRC or directly from Moon.
