    Shavette Shaves # 257 & 258

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Dovo Shavette
    Blade: Personna Hair Shaper
    Brush: Ever Ready 200T
    Lather: Declaration Grooming/Chatillon Lux Nefertiti
    Aftershave: Chatillon Lux Nerfertiti
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum

Two fabulous shaves the past two days here in Rome. The Dovo Shavette with the Hair Shaper blades delivers an exceptionally close shave. Of course, we have all heard of Joe’s, @Trigger, accolades of the blade in previous posts. He is right on the mark with his assessment.

Hope you all stay cool and enjoy your day.

Thank you Chris...The Blue Stratos is a great affordable ASL that you can be very liberal with it when applying it.

    Wednesday Afternoon 02/07/2025

    • Razor : Aylsworth Kopparkant 3 piece DE Brass 360 (Hong Kong).
    • Blade : Bic Astor Stainless (1).
    • Brush : Yaqi Ocean 28mm synthetic.
    • Soap : Yaqi Psychedelie 1oz sample.
    • Aftershave : Rasozero Pelli Delicate splash.
    • Weight : 95 grams.
    Hi all,
Brilliant shave this afternoon with the Aylsworth Kopparkant witch was no less than I expected from
    this accomplished artisan.
The razor its self shares the same blade gap and exposure with the Apex SS pro with the plus plate.
The Kopparkant also has the + on the base plate.
In my opinion, comparing the two razors I think the Apex SS has a slight Edge in efficiency and closeness of shave over
    the Kopparkant.
(Which may be my imagination as the razor head specs are the same. Though the head design is quite different.)
It still gave me a two pass BBS shave no nicks no irritation.

The Yaqi Psychedelie sample lathed up well with good cushioning and post shave feel.

Finished of very nicely with the Rasozero splash.

1 pass WTG/ATG done no nicks no worries.

    Cheers.

Ok, keen to see how you go with the Cold Water Shaving July
    Daily? or skipping some days?

Fine historical set up Gary. Like the look of that razor : still going strong after all these years. Fantastic!

Thanks John. Yes it's not that vintage. Not sure of the date: made in Germany but imported for the Japanese market: I don't read Japanese so don't know the date. It's Super Platinum Chrome and nice and smooth

Thanks mate. That's overseas. I have trouble getting o/s sites to ship ASL etc to Perth. Hardware and soaps yes, but ASL they are not keen.

    1 Days growth

Hot Water Prep and Preshave = Derby Menthol shave cream
    Cream/Soap = Woolly Wash Tropi-Cool
Brush = Semogue Pegasus C7 finest badger 2 band
    Bowl = White plastic
Razor = Gillette Tech Argentina B2
Blade = Vintage Zwilling JA Henckels (4) final outing
    Passes = 2 +
Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, L'Occitane Homme CAP Cedra.
    ASL = Proraso Rinfrescante
Scent = Pinaud Lime Sec Cologne

Fun Lime based shave with the sheep tallow based Tropi-cool

A fuss free shave. The Gillette Tech is deceptive. I thought that the Tech would be mild compared to the Gillette New but it presents the blade very well and one still needs to take care

The Semogue remains a bit of a lather hog and is best suited to painting rather than mashing in the lather

Very happy with my 2nd Woolly Wash Soapery product. Easy to lather, nice and slick and not drying at all, lovely citrus with a slight tingle

The Henckels blade did well on day 4 but as is my custom I binned it anyway

The One Blade blade bin is filling up and getting difficult to get the blades in since using it from August 2024. Bit of a bother, so I won’t be replacing it when I can’t cram any more blades in there

Hope you all have a fantastic day

    Screwtape A Shaving Butterfly

    Thanks, Chris!

I will be skipping days regularly -- I haven't done daily shaves since I quit going into an office on a daily basis 15 years ago. I have worked from home ever since.

So the Henckels razor blades were made in Germany but for the Japanese market rather than the domestic German/European one. Explains why they aren't common in Europe or North America.

Fun looking bowl. That handle looks nice and grippy

Yip, I agree, I tend to shave around 4 - 6 per week, the odd day off here and there helps the ageing skin more time to recover

    Thanks John

    Same setup again...

...except for a fresh blade Gillette 7 o’clock Sharp Edge

An almost nick left jaw, it quickly disappeared after glaring at it Lol!

Smooth and smelling fresh for a fine day out with the missus

I am re-affirming my friendship with the Argentinian Tech which is kind of cool, and one reason for me not mixing things up too soon

    Have a great day everyone
