If I define best as those I actually use, the only modern razors left in my rotation are the PAA Prismatic and the Gillette Guard. The former I regularly employ for clean ups for its spectacular audible feedback. The latter I use as my primary head shaver because it's great at its job, efficient without drama.

It's difficult to single out just one, but if I had to, it would probably be the Merkur Progress. It's a smooth, efficient razor that works well with a variety of blades:

A close runner up is my Wolfman WR2 .95 SB with Darwin handle. Smooth, efficient and mild mannered enough to use every day:

I like the Micro Touch One/Wishi short handle model that was bought in 2017 from a dented and repaired box that as this is the only modern model I have used, the other two I have are a Gillette adjustable 1--9 handle because my Micro Touch One is finicky with the butterfly so I was looking at the under $60 adjustable butterfly models for ease of cleaning I often do while shaving in the middle to keep going were not worth it and the only good model was a Rockwell adjustable that is NOT worth the $149.98 when looking in May that is now for several reasons $159.98.

I agree and this is why I bought the Micro Touch One actually a Wishi short handle because the model was a near reproduction of one of what I know now as the longest running butterfly designs of shaver as the Gillette Super Speed standard in the all metal model flair tip deigns that was made in the classic version in different variations of aggression for almost 23 years from mid 1947 to early/mid 1970 before the models were stopped for exclusively the cheaper to make black plastic grip handle version that was made from 1965--1988 in a single design closer to the original no color flair tip. Super Speed and Aristocrat were the only models besides the, all metal Gillette 3 piece, I know now as the Tech were the 3 models I knew Gillete made before getting into the Safe-T-Shaving, pun intended. I have come to find out in 2025 using Bager & Blade the Gillete USA dating part of the website to find out my Micro Touch One is now actually a Wishi short handle is a modern take on the Gillette Super Speed Flair tip produced from 1950--1968 when the flair tip color enamel models came out in the blue tip less aggressive and red tip more aggressive than the standard model. This before I was ban for explaining why prices have gone up on Bager & Blade just explaining who and why I did then a ban for apology with also but it is the countries in a trade war

I think the main person running Badger & Blade rejection is a specific type of person because he allows the DJT face picture sold shaving gear on the Badger & Blade.

I have since gone with the adjustable Gillette Slim handle 1--9 with a backup case modified a hair to also hold my Micro Touch One. I moved on from the icro Touch One as mine the package was all dented and bashed up so the razor was all bashed up on the Micro Touch One that I got in 2017 so the blade over time got more and more finicky to where at one point I had to throw the Micro Touch One on the ground to get it to open up in March and was the final straw.

I wanted a Butterfly for ease of cleaning in adjustable, but most models had some kind of flaw including the Viking Emperor models or were expensive like the Rockwell model that was $149,98 at the time that is now $159.98, almost tempting me to buy a flip top adjustable model that has grip made by a few Chinese brands/OEM by European or USA brands in different variations of grip that the rollers where on most they have the comb/smooth comb that had a flaw of clogging up so I never bought those plus most of these flip top only went to 6 not being a 2--9 of a Gilette adjustable that the Weishi/Yintal models are in 1--8.

For adjustable I eventually went vintage to keep some good clean but not 100% perfect models of Gillette adjustable slim 1--9 out of the hands of people who collect vintage shavers getting one as a backup/if the other should fail as the plastic handle Gillette adjustable I later knew as the Super Adjustable, the plastic is often nasty needing cleaning or unable to be cleaned due to being moldy plastic where the plastic has small scratches unable to be cleaned as this is where the mold is coming from, those small scratches.

The Micro Touch One that is actually a rebranded Weishi shaver I am talking about is only modern Safe-T-Shaver shaver I have used. It is a clone of the old Super Speed Shaver flair tip models in a middle of the road shave like the later black plastic covered handle version that replaced the mild blue and more aggressive red flair knobs, closer to the no color flair tip or black end flair tip that were much less common as the aggressive red, mild blue flair tips being the most popular or long run of 1965--1988 black plastic handle models that were the most common. This shaver only having Micro Touch on the top of the shaver as if some of the chrome/nickel had been stripped away by about 1/2 to have brands name on it in a matte finish.
