Shavette Shave # 264 - Sample Soap Sunday - Cella Buongiorno Al Sandalo

    Rating: 5 / 5

    Razor: Dovo Shavette
    Blade: Personna Hair Shaper (20)
    Brush: Ever Ready 200T
    Lather: Cella Buongiorno Al Sandalo
    Aftershave: Cella Buongiorno Al Sandalo
    Additional Care:
    Omega Alum

Fabulous sample soap Sunday shave this morning. The choice of Cella is highly appropriate as we are up early for a trip on a catamaran to Sicily to see Mt. Etna and Campania for the day. Yes it will be a long day but homely an enjoyable one.

This three pass shave has left my face smooth and velveteen. On top of that I am smelling quite good as well. Those Sicilian ladies are going to have a hard time resisting. I am taking a page out of Joe’s book, @Trigger.

Hope you all have a fabulous day.

    Thanks for the reply.

My shave on 7/12/2025 was shave 7 or 8 of using my blade on the top side was one of the best shaves ever 9.5/10 to 10/10 since getting the old Gillette Adjustable models.

With my other shaver the Micro Touch a 9/10 was the best I could do after I was used to shaving with a Safe-T-Shaver with the Persona blades, later finding King C Gillette to work fine as I found the Dorco 300 package including carboard stuffed under One Blade plastic cover that came with the Micro Touch One having a dull crappy shave for the first few shaves even going back to see if just me and it was not when I was proving to my dad before giving away the first 5 pack then later finding the old 5 pack in late 2024 and giving away in either late 2024 or very early 2025.

I could show my setup, but I would rather not show because of how small the bathroom is.

Having used both hot and cold shaves with water mainly or at most hand soap, minimal body wash or hair conditioner in any of the 3 just enough to cover letting soak in, I am a believer in that tap cold but not cold in mainly summer or warm but not hot is the way to go when shaving. I do not use creams/shave soap, foams or go heavy on the soaps as I tend to have no feel, so I end up cutting myself more by going harder like one can do with modern multiblade shavers including some better disposable shavers that are made more like a modern multiblade shaver, less like a removable blade single edge shaver.

Casey, I enjoy my iced water shaves. I have a brush scuttle that I put some ice cubes and water in the lower reservoir. In the upper cones shaped reservoir I place my lathered brush. This allows the lather to chill which feels wonderful upon applying to my face.
Here is a picture of the brush scuttle:

I was just letting you know what I have found works best for me. Today got a little hot and due to it I was having cuts, of course not cleaning out but just going up in number did not help either as that number change from 3 to 4 was probably the bigger issue especially with leaving the hair in the shaver entire time I shaved.

My dad somehow found his best shaves a long time ago in the early 2000's are during the shower for his under chin/neck and checks/lower sideburns leaving a non-connected face beard since he turned 60 and started in facial hair on sideburns was graying. This shaving in the shower even predates him using a Safe-T-Shaver, when using a Twin Track II with the aftermarket Dorco or Personna blades made to fit both that and older Astera II where my dad was using the older 1990's Dorco copy of the shaver as his old Twin Track II was starting to rust with an older folding Revlon Mirror from my mom's old makeup in 1999 when my mom and a sister who forgot to bring eyeshadow used up the last of the eyeshadow for my oldest (born in 1979) cousins wedding in 1999 where my dad took it after they got home to use in the shower for his shaving as his previous small mirror the clear plastic flip part broke so the mirror was starting to scratch up. He also does not use shaving cream/shaving soaps, nobody in my family uses not even my mom when she needs to shave her leg hair every other month, she has to shave her legs as the hair grows that slowly due to age/slow thyroid. My family finds the shaving soaps/creams or foams unneeded as they help us have less feeling, so we end up cutting ourselves more especially me and my mom My mom now uses now the single blade Bic model in mostly classic Bic yellow besides the Bic guy and words Bic on the raised logo having seen her shaver in the shower when on vacation. I do think she stopped using a Shick Hydro model she was using for years becuse the price/availability of blades.

Because my dad shaves in the shower without any cuts or only the rare cut with the occasional zit cut or hair rip when going too fast, I have tried to shave in the shower without a mirror as a mirror for me is just making things harder, but it never works due to having soap over my eyes having to stop shaving so I know where I am shaving or almost dropping the shaver that I have to stop shaving as well for fear of dropping a heavier all metal shaver in my Micro Touch One. I no longer use my Micro Touch one as a main shaver, I only keep for air travel as I do not trust people in baggage handling with my old Gillette Slim adjustable 1--9 despite having a backup with case lightly modified to fit my Micro Touch One.
