Casey, the Gillette Adjustable is a fine razor.

Terrific shave Barry. I am sure the Omega soap is great. However, I like the eucalyptus/menthol that Proraso provides.

Thank you Joe...The Omega soap is good, pretty much equal to the Proraso green which is a firm favourite of mine.

Never Mind it was the angle of the shaver having seen more Gillette Executive models.

Thanks, I have found on days my facial hair is rougher than usual, I need some kind of very light lubrication like with a body lotion or some kind of soap/bodywash very light that I let soak into the skin. This has me thinking maybe a very light shaving foam (think Barbersol thin type) is the way to go, one that will soak into the skin if using a small amount.

Hope your Mom recovers fully Joe. Nice one on the Fitzgerald

I have 2 Slims and from what I hear there are similar. I won't go hunting one down, but if one comes my way, I might consider it. My rabbit hole is deep enough atm!

    thank you Joe

Great 2 passer Joe, although there was lots of alum feedback after only 2 passes, is that the nature of the Shavette?

    EXTREMELY late shave report:

Saturday July 26 ( morning) - Just Cold Water July

Prep: Hot shower with Aleppo olive oil and 20% bay laurel oil soap (traditional anti-acne); followed by cold water pre-shave face rinse

Razor: Matte black stainless steel Supply 2.0 injector with "nick-proof" SE comb plate / Supply White Label (house-branded Personna)(9)

Soap: TOBS Lavender Shave Cream croap

Brush: Semogue SOC cherrywood badger refitted by Jason @jtspartan with ApShaveCo Tuxedo synthetic knot

    Lather Bowl: None

Post: rinse, alum, rinse, TSD Lavender Aftershave Milk

Last shave: Thursday July 10 ( morning) - 16 days ago

    The setup:

    IMG_20250222_161005.jpg

Same setup as for my last shave - over two weeks ago. On Saturday, I wasn't shaving whiskers; I was removing a beard.

The TOBS shave cream is now a hard croap but it still loads easily and face lathers well. It provided excellent glide and protection as well as good post-shave skin care.

I will bin the blade before my next shave - especially if it is a multi-day beard removal again. With 8 shaves already on it, the injector blade would likely have been fine for two or three more daily-type shaves. But it wasn't really up to doing a clean removal of a full-on beard.

Two passes - one WTG on my face and ATG on my neck and the next XTG everywhere - did eventually remove all the whiskers with no need of any cleanup passes. But that was because each of the "two passes" involved multiple strokes everywhere...

I remembered the alum this time and it was silent. And right after the shave, I had no visible nicks, blood spots or razorburn. However, an hour later, I noticed a few places on my chin that looked a bit red and felt a bit raw. And that was despite using the TSD Aftershave Milk, which contains such good stuff as witch hazel, shea butter, glycerin and aloe vera... The lavender scent of the Shave Milk was a nice finish to the shave though.

Hope everyone has a good week to finish out the month!

    I agree with you%.

I was more angry about how Gillette stopped the Mach III for the Fusion then Mach 3 that came out later and both later models sucked being hard to clean where my brother switched to the Mach 3 being they have cheaper blades one can buy because the Fusion with specialty trimmer he has now takes the lesser no heat shaver blades but still expensive Gillette labs blades. He uses the Gillette trimmer for his beard despite my getting him a Phillps Norelco One Blade with the modern blade guard for the job. My brother he mainly shaves neck and all of chin.

It was in this era that all modern shavers started going sucky including disposable, so the shavers did not last as long to make more money off people. It was only Safe-T-Shavers that did not circle this drain of crappy though some blades are cheap/crappy made for people who do not know better or are not able to afford much using a cheaper Weishi clone shaver they got for under $7 USA.

In my opinion, you are better off with a shaving soap and a brush to lather your face. You will find if you go that route, then your shaves will improve dramatically. I would say to get a synthetic brush and maybe Proraso or Omega soap if Eucalyptus and Menthol won't turn you off.

Thanks Chris. Like most guys, my neck is sensitive and with a fresh blade it makes it more so.
