August 5 SOTM Head and Face Shave Good afternoon. 1968 Gillette Slim Adjustable (7) Supermax Blue Diamond DE Blade ( fresh, 2) MrEE LE #10 Cashmere Brush Music City Suds Lavender SS and AS Stirling Alum Block Lucky Witch Hazel Beard Growth: 3 Days Dome Turf: 6 Days Sorry, it is a late post. Now that I am up-to-date with reading all the posts, I feel that I can post as well. Had a 3 pass shave plus touchups on my dome and 2 passes on my face e and neck. I had a smooth close shave all around without the loss of my precious red liquid. It was the first time that I have used the titanium coated Supermax blade. I was impressed because the blade was very smooth and sharp. However, I had some decent alum feedback all around. Finished the shave with the splash of witch hazel and the matching aftershave. Take care.
If this other early blade was still made for King C Gillette or easier to find if still made, I would buy a bunch for this shaver they are the type with the Logo on in black unlike the newer that looks stamped into the metal and is only on one side. The Personna made sometime in 2024--2025 I got in early 2025 without a logo is close enough once the blade dulls in a bit after 3--4 shaves once the overly thick coating wears off in 6--7 shaves first then mark on one side of the blade on top to use the marked side up first redoing the Sharpie Xtreame as needed. My previous shaver, my Micro Touch One the best I used in blade was the 2017 Persona with the light and overly dark logos though the Newer Personna 2024--2025 could be almost as good. Worst was the Dorco 300 that came with the Micro Touch One having tried those again later when technique had improved and they still pulled hair rather than cut. I feel the Dorco 300/301 would be the worst blade for my Gillette Adjustable slim handle as well because I have odd hair for my beard plus those older Dorco 300 are rather thick blades almost to the old pre stainless steel types like Treet still makes, I am not sure if the 300/301 are still made this way by Dorco or if they changed since 2013--2014 when My Micro Touch One package was put together.
Great set up mate I’ve always had a real soft spot for the Gillette slim adjustable I reckon 1959 must be one of the less common ones? I haven’t come across one of those in my travels Cheers. Paul
Lol! I was thinking of my 1959 Fatboy when I wrote my post. My brain got cross-circutted. I am 70 so I am sticking to that excuse. The Slim Adjustable came out in 1961 and the final production of it was during the last quarter of 1968. My Slim Adjustable is a 1968 last quarter version. Btw, I corrected my post.

Great shave, closing out(for now) the Kent/Gabel's group. Nice work frrom the Boar brush in scooping up a solid amount of the Kent soap. Clean, clear shave, across the board. Some additional time had to be taken along North Porcupine(just below the nose), but got it done. One pass. Good finish from the Gabel's (Drops Of) Lime. Most Outstanding.
No big deal and both models are very similar with handle design being the only changes as even the weight due to one being longer the slim handle was almost the same as the fat handle, only 7 to 8 grams off. I can see how one would get confused like with the Early Super Speed and Aristocrat Jr.
My shave today was a 9.5/10 due to one small cut on the moustache area that I did new from the old one. I used blade on dial 2 for most of the shave except the chin area on dial 3. Day 7 on topside of blade. I did have to go back and do parts of my neck I missed the first time. I used like always my Gillette Adjustable Shaver slim handle my no case H 2, the one I can date. I used water on the enter face but also used water on the blade/head of shave keeping that wet as well. The new book I got on July-31, King C. Gillette, the man and his wonderful shaving device https://www.amazon.com/dp/0316009377/?tag=thshde-20, my early era of King C Gillete blade before the company moved to the thinner Chinese models, and my Gillette shaver are proving they are still a great trio for this month. I am loving the book, still in the 1920's era of the Gillette company though almost out as I am just in early parts chapter 6 that gets into the 1930's at the very end looking a bit ahead.
