This is something that I have recently noticed. When quoting a post, the "quoted post" is now part of the new post (see photo)
This makes it difficult to discern what's what.

The photo doesn't show what is or isn't quote. What thread is the photo originating from?

It looks like a {quote} tag got edited out.

Found it.

Not a forum issue.
Someone clipped a {quote} tag, and every subsequent quote only made it worse.

Doesn't someone around here have the CT of outside the quotes? Maybe he's at fault.

Of course not. That's not how that works.

I’ve been quoting then un-quoting posts trying to understand what this does but so far havent figured out what it does. I get the message that its been added to multi/post and am able to then un-quote and I get the message its been removed from multi/post but I don’t see anything else occuring.

It quotes that person, and if you click on several posts, you can "insert quotes" when you reply to a post.

What happened here is someone quoted someone else but the end "[/QUOTE" tag was messed up or missing like the one I put in here, so it ended up being formatted as part of the reply, not as a quote.

Just hit REPLY in the person's post.
Then make sure you start your typing after the last
part.

Click +QUOTE in each post you want to quote, then go to the WRITE YOUR REPLY box and click there. It will tell you to INSERT QUOTES. Now you have multiple quotes but only your one reply.

Saw you were trying to quote swarden's post. Just delete the "
" he stuck in his post, and you'll be able to quote the whole thing. When you quote it, it ends up seeing two "end quote" commands and goes with the first one it sees after the "start quote" command.

Hope that makes sense.

I believe I get it now. I removed the E in QUOTE from your text in this reply so this reply formatted correctly and demonstrated I understand what you described. This reply didn't format correctly when I just replied without doing that, similar to the result when I replied to swarden. Thanks again.
