Jim, that razor looks a little rusty. It must be from dipping it in cold water too much. You better get a new one and send that one to me. ;)

I didn't realize you could get as good of a shave with cold water as with hot. All the recommendations up to this point that I’ve heard about to reduce irritation and get the best shave is take a hot shower and/or use a hot towel, to get the hairs warm so the blade cuts it better. Is the hot shower and getting the face warm still a part of the CWS? Or is it hot shower followed by everything else including prep etc using cold? I’m intrigued by this and will give it a try, especially if it really does reduce irritation. Thanks for this info and for starting the club.

I shower at night and shave in the morning. However, when I shave after a shower using cold water I get equally good shaves. I am not opposed to hot water in a shave if that is what you like. When I served in Vietnam in 1968, I could shave with cold water conveniently or walk about a quarter of a mile to get hot water. So, usually, I just used cold water.

I’m going to give this a try. If I like it and especially if it reduces irritation, I’ll humbly submit my application to join the club. Thank you for your service.
