If you read the book The man and his Wonderful Shaving Device by Russell Adams, you will note that the next president Gillette right after King C Gillette retired had bought the Auto Strop company from Germany but lost the entire company due to WWII bombings and rather just worked to set up its own factories in West Germany because the Valet/Auto strop factory had been taken over by East Germany what was left of it, to produce blades that were ever so slightly oversized for a Gillette shaver so that when the East German tried to use their blades in a western shaver the blades barely did not fit. Gillette ended up owning Braun electric shavers in the 1950's who also made other electric food tools until 1968 as East Germany and Dutch countries had 70--75% of people using electric for shaving but in USA had to sell the models under the Gillette name because the shavers were not allowed to be sold in the USA due to the Monopoly Gillette was getting on the entire shaving in USA/North America until 1968 because of the shaving brands Wilkinson and Schick taking more of the share in the 1960's. This is why early re-introduction of the German Merkur or Muhle shavers in Germany, I forget the German/Deutch brand up until 2017 the blades were oversized on the head cover of the double edge where the brand needed to use only the brands own blades as everything else was too small for the top plate or the butterfly for the single butterfly blade. These blades were very sharp at the time along with the aggressiveness of the open comb shavers from the brand. The odd part is the modern blades from the Muhle or Merkur brand did fit in other shavers just ending up leaving too much blade exposed over the edge of the shaver when used.

For my backup I must have a rare Gillette slim handle case as mine the bottom foil is gold and was this from the factory however the shaver was in great shape only I feel the seller used vinegar in a jewelry cleaner to get the green off the shaver. My shaver now has a burn mark on the top just past the Gillette words and a burn on part of the plastic near the end to originally hold my Micro Touch One the case only fit one exact way. The shaver now fits one way for holding my Micro Touch One that is so hard to fit right in with the case I have bought a case on AliExpress for getting a good deal of $1.05 with shipping due to a back to school sale AliExpress for buying from the seller for the first time. (link below) It is missing a plastic hinge as one side of the hinges broke when opening back up for me. My listing said it was a Gillette Q 2 which was almost never used but is either an L or Backwards J 1 or 11 as the letters are hard to read. My guess is this could possibly be a factory mistake model in J, I, made by mistake into an L or some old model found in factory made into an L with the top layer of foil still intact or the foil for a case a rare version. The numbers look to be repainted on, probably using nail polish/paint. Because of the shaver saying Q 2 and showing a hard to read so, nobody wanted the shaver, so I go it for $36.77 total as my backup due to how the model is not easy to get for under $45+ especially with a case in the shape the shaver was in. My main shaver is without the case and had pitting in a spot not affecting the performance so I got it for $32.87 total otherwise people ask $35+ for a good model without the case they can date but if the model came with the case it would have easily sold for $45+ https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808759570370.html? So, a Super Shaver came in Sept/2/2025 and I got it for my dad as his birthday present on November 16th. The price of $19.11 total no shipping was perfect to pass upon an F 2 Super Speed no color knob I wanted being this was his birth year of 1960 that for some reason F 3 the third trimester was hard to find due to switching over all the 3 main Super Speed models at the time to a shorter twist knob in late 1960 that the Red and Blue already had. I did have to do 1 hours worth of cleaning including using a jar with some Barkeepers Friend and water along with whatever was on a Chlorox wipe to try and get rid of the sticky issue from the shaving cream or Dawn they used in cleaning where parts I had to use Chlorox yellow package wipes with Barkeepers Friend on the Chlorox wipe well to get rid of the shaving cream/soap before and after this. I did scrape off the green with a toothpick as it was on the single hole on bottom plate of the 4 holes that was made smaller and on the top, both sides before the comb with one just in the groove part before the comb that was going to affect the shave seeing it was built up green to above the shaving surface the blade sits on. The twist knob was full of crap, one side would jump before it would close before I fully cleaned that out including the sidewalls that had crap on them. This is why the Shaver was so cheap, the person thought the model was broken and yes the butterfly still closes a little off it is barely noticeable. The shaver does have light pitting but will work fine for the needs of the shaver. I also got at home on the same date the Personna Red Blades 50 of them in and from another seller some old early 1990's pre internet 5 packs and 3 sets of 5 blade all plastic dispenser older thin Personna Blades for 65 total blades because he is turning 65 this year. I did have to replace one blade in with one package of the Personna because it was 1/2 out of the dispenser with not really a way to put it back in just one blade unless I mangled the other blades when putting them back in. I also had to spend about 30--45 minutes opening up another package because the time I tried to see if they could come out all the blades came out at the same time, in first attempts to put the blades back in I cut myself but nothing on the blades due to how deep/long it took for the blood to come out. Also, the packaged the Dispensers would have been in the store opened up very easy because the glue was no longer working/damaged from the trip. I did save the 3 back parts for the dispensers, so my dad knows exactly what he is getting numbers wise. I put all of the blades and paper into one of the two packages they came in as the top could be sealed back up, all except one cartridge in with the shaver where I did put a small piece of thin carboard to prop the cartridge up to the proper size a Gillette reusable model would be.
boil the kettle and then drop the razor into a cup of boiled water,let it soak until cool, repeat if needed.it will clean the insides out..especially the threads..
