boiling water will not remove any plating or create any smell..only chemicals and/or sandpaper will remove electroplated metals.
I tried the Barkeepers Friend method in the sticky for cleaning to get rid of the sticky issue but had to use some yellow package Clorox Cleaning Wipes I used only going this method to with the extra product that I did wet down in use to dilute the yellow package Clorox Cleaning Wipe to get it clean fully. I cleaned with this to see if I could with a mild product to get the shine back where in the parts that have full chrome they are back to normal with the dull parts with outer most nickel chrome layer stripped off with underside of the bottom part the blade sits on the nickel chrome plating is coming off, and why I had to scrape off layers because of letting the item sit in the case for X years before Texas Junk Peddlers got the item they claim in a Sale after the estate sale auction was over. The knob is only loose when the knob is not fully closed down where it seems to lock in place, I was not going far enough. It is on e-Bay the 1950's Super Speed and very early first month or 2 of F 1 (1960) with the Cross lines on the Twist knob no matter the condition going for $35+ USA as for some reason people do not want the 1960's models pre the plastic handle grip for some reason being sold for $30 on down, maybe this is due to switching from chrome to nickel plaiting. This is just for the, all metal versions of Super Speed in the standard model.
they were all nickel plated,a few in gold also.the only other notable exception is the 1959-62? ish british flaretip that has the tv special knurling and a rhodium plated handle. fyi the only gillette razors ethat were ever chromium plated were the 1930 new deluxe tuckaway sets, and the 1930 new big boy set. these are hard to find in mint shape, and nobdy can replate them due to the harsh chemicals involved in the plating process..
You forgot the exact same model as the Gillette no color tip Super Speed that used a plastic casing that nobody wants to replicate not even the Chinese brands because of the failure rate of the model despite some cheap model Chinese factories produce that is in all plastic. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808759570370.html? I got the back to school special on the now AliExpress only model because it was $1.05 tax only for a case to have for my first Safe-T-Shaver in the Micro Touch/short nickel plaited brass as it currently only fits in the case of the other mystery date Adjustable model I have when I lightly modified the cover. I wanted a case where I would not feel bad for tossing out the shaver on, so this meant no clones of the Wishi short handle models, all 3 in the marine grade stainless steel, the nickel plaited brass/all brass models, and aluminum that are all clones of the 3 main Super Speed models. There is one model of Weshi I would look at that is made for YINTAL in an all brass or the other Sta
i don't collect gillette clones nore any modern razors.so i know little about them.my knowledge is about what was,not is.. and as far as i know we were only talking about all brass flare tips,no black handled 1967 and newer ones.
I am letting you know the Clone Remakes Technically the term not Just Clones because the Super Speed is no longer made. I do not collect the other clone Remakes just have the one so far, the Micro Touch One that until April of 2025 was my only Double Edge Shaver. I only intend to keep the one model of Super Speed for travel but will be using a cheap case where I do not feel bad for tossing out a fully plastic shaver that comes unusable, that is more in the style of some Schick model that had the twist knob on the top of the shaver. However some on here might think, a model that is not a Super Speed is what the Gillette division of Procter & Gamble calls a model with a plastic handle metal with a normally attached though the Chinese Variant called Super Speed with Madrinan words is a 3 piece closer to a Tech model while the other is a Tech Variant that was made in the 1970's and 1980's even as late as 1990's just before Procter & Gamble bought the company from the UK though on such a low scale the model after 1995 for the older one in USA and UK are hard to find as 0ld models past 1984 as at this point the Twin Trac II, the Atra II/Plus came out and the Twin disposable 6 pack used for travel had taken over the market. Yes you can buy the blades in photos separate as the Super Shaver and the models of shaver as the 7o'clock and Super Speed (not a Super Speed) as well are all made in Shanghai where the main (rebuilt after WWII and factory remade bigger in the 1960's 1970's population boom) factory was first established in the 1920's or 1930's pre-invasion of then New Order Japan in 1935 when Gillette went more global at the time to gain more sales. The picture of the AliExpress version that is called a Super Speed is not showing up so a link is in its place. https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808116853946.html?
I was not trying to be rude but just letting you know the history of Super Speed models past 1967 M 2 then let you know about the current model that is claimed a Super Speed and in slightly modified form as a screw in 2 pieces as the 7o'Clock shaver is basically the same as a model from Gillette they made in England before it was shipped to the China factories and only reacnely due to the book the Man and his wonderful Shaving Device written by Russell Adams when said factories were originally established, before Communism took over China after WWII. Part of that was a joke on the forgetting the plastic handle Super Speeds.
all good.i didn't pay much attention to newer models.i started shaving around late 1981,england still theoretically had the 3 piece tech, though i never saw one.my grandad was still using his white handled british slim twist..electric shavers were the craze then,i started with bics and trac2 razors.my birth year is M-4,i was in canada by mid 1980 and didn't care much about shaving..
