    If I could have used the Twin Stropper properly I would have had better shaving on the top side of the blade that was almost time for switching as this top side was not very smooth. In the mistake. I know now how the blade fits in all the way and probably if ever using the Chinese King C Gilette blades strop the blade before use to remove that bur left on from manufacture that causes cuts when shaving until dulled in.

    Thank you Joe. My shaves throughout the week with the have been outstandingly smooth and efficient...I've pushed the Feather Hi Stainless beyond my normal 2-3 outings max this week, and it still performed wonderfully on it's fourth outing feeling sharp & efficient. A new tried and tested assertive duo.

    2 Days growth

    Cream/Soap = TOBS Oud
    Brush = Semogue
    Razor = Gillette Aristocrat
    Blade = Wizamet day 6
    Passes = 2+
    Post = Usual CWR, Alum, rinse, pat dry, Thayers rose petal
    ASB = TOBS Royal forest
    ASL = Proraso Barbe Dure with oud
    Scent = Oud Malak, not my wife’s favourite (she don’t like it at all) but I find it very pleasant with a grapefruit overtone

    The Wizamet surprised me at day 6 and although still crisp is showing signs of fading, needing more strokes to get the desired smoothness. I has performed well and has deserved its retirement to the blade bin.

    No damage, thought I felt a few scrapes but the alum was silent, go figure!

    Have a great run-up to the weekend lads

    I have found of all the models of butterfly shavers Gillette made the Aristocrat was one of the best looking in the intricate design that looks even better in the 1949 rare nickel plaited version due to how those held the color/coating better over the years.

    very cool.it's the first one i've seen with the 430030 on both the baseplate and the handle.mine has no markings on the handle,only 430030 on the baseplate..mine could be a 1940,instead of 1939 which i assumed based on progression of cases/razors etc.though purely speculation mind you..gillette england stopped making razors after the war started,hence a few 1940 models produced..i have a 1939 brit popular (aristocrat's baby brother) and they made a 1940 model as well.:cool:early 1938 and older models of the 'crat were marked 400621 on the plate with 430030 or 400621 on the handles respectively.

    Is this the razor guard you use for your head? https://www.ebay.com/itm/187446992783? I also find the blades just on their own are hard to get outside of a 56 pack as the smallest pack sold.

    That's the very razor.. Here in the UK whenever I do a re-order I go for the option 2 razors + 26 cartridge heads, Gillette Guard Classic Razor handle With Chosen Quantity of Blades / Cartridges | eBay UK the razor handle head that holds the cartridge head becomes loose with use and has to be replaced, I normally fit a new handle after 7-9 months of use which is good going considering it's cost. I'm stocked up for a few years still before I need to re-order, as I use other swivel head cartridge razors too for my head shaving that have been gifted and passed on to me by family & friends.

    When I first started to fully shave my head and before I had the confidence to shave with a DE or a SE razor my razor of choice was the Gillette guard …My first maiden shave with it felt like I was shaving with a potato peeler due to it's tilting head, which is good for the contour on my head what I really like about is it doesn't clog up due to it been open comb and having a large blade gap, one of the few if any open comb single edge cartridge razors on the market. It's excellent for tight spots and problem areas. My only crit's are because the razor is made of plastic it isn't eco-friendly or recyclable, like DE & SE blades are ,and it's very light but that's expected considering what it costs to make 'you're not going to get a shave from it like a DE or a SE razor granted, but it's not bad, the overall shave performance from this one-blade cartridge razor is very good and easily to adjust to when shaving with it.

    I can get normally 3-5 combined face & head shaves from one cartridge/head, which I consider excellent value, Especially for head shaving. It's a ideal travel razor, or when your in need of a quick no fuss presentable face or head shave. What more is needed.

    Head shaving from what I read tends to wear out blades quicker than a face would and you want to use a fairly sharp blade because the risk of ripping hairs on the head is much higher. I have a younger cousin who shaves his head due to hair loss but there he uses the single blade Bic but the version with the pivot blade if he lets it go longer than what his Philips One Blade can do where he uses the 360 on his as the older model is too stiff for a head shave but was the best he used as his cheaper Micro Touch Blade died quickly a month after the warranty. Another cousin who lives in Belgum (his company moved to first Hungary during Trump presidency part 1 but then moved to Belgium due to issues with the President) uses a German Norelco for his head and for his face a Persona clone of the Twin Trac II the Grman version as there is a German branch of the company. In a pinch for the head in travel the older cousin will use a Gillette Fusion 3 in one/Fusion Pro 3 in one but just the back end, with the front part for the Fusion blades missing, without any of the 3 guards. The Norelco is big and bulky for air travel.

    If I needed to shave my head, I would look for some kind of single blade or twin blade shaver that uses the 1/2 blades in it. This is one thought https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F9FQGD5X/?tag=thshde-20 because I can use a similar shaving style to a modern shaver I would feel confident in using on my head and it pivots to help with an easier time getting the proper angle when shaving.

    Today's shave was a 9.5/10 still using dial 4 for the most of the shave and went back on dial 5 for a quick shave today. It was shave 5 on the bottom, 23 in total with the Personna 100 pack made in USA I bought in late 2017.

    I used as always, my H 2 or 1962 Gillette Adjustable slim handle shaver without the case.

    I shaved after the shower so none of home-made shaving lotion/soap combo from the hotel squeeze lotion bottle for shaving today, but I did keep the blade wet as needed.

    The blade was still on day 5 smoother because this bottom side got stropped more due to not having the blade all the way into the Twin Stropper during that stropping with the first 10--12 turns of the handle where the blade only spun about every 3 shaves in this period before I took the blade out and put it in all the way.
