So I received the 10 dollar Tabac refill stick from razor emporium (without tallow) and used it to shave tonight, my SOTD will follow. It was pretty good but I’m not really a fan of using a stick I think, maybe because I’m not that good at getting a lather from a stick, maybe its because I just don't get as good of a lather doing a face lather than I do with a good bowl lather that I take my time to make. I think I also have really hard water and I’ve already tried distilled, citric acid, baking soda, etc without excellent results, but its not horrible either. At present a bowl lather works best for me, so I turned half my Tabac stick into a puck to be able to face lather from the puck or load from the puck and make a lather in my favorite bowl or scuttle. Here’s how I did it, cut with my utility knife..

according to paa, star jelly is a mixture of a shave balm and after shave.

Cold wet flannel to my face & head.
Pears Transparent Bar Soap.
Brush: Fine 24mm Synthetic.
Bowl Lather.
Bowl: Tesco's Ceramic 'Cosmo' Side Bowl.
Lather: Fine Fresh Vetiver Classic Shaving Soap.
Blade: Dorco Prime Platinum. (D1)
Razor: Parker 24C.
Razor: Gillette Guard. (Head) (D3)

Post:
Cold Water Face & Head Rinse./Cold water face & head wash with brush squeezing's,/Alum Rub./Cold Water Rinse./Homemade (~Autumn/Winter mix~) peppermint lavender, eucalyptus, + Tea Tree essential Oils Mixed Together With Care+ Witch Hazel./Nivea Men Replenishing PSB./Milton Lloyd The Man Silver EdT.

The VanDer Hagen Luxury Shave Soap was face-lathered well with the SlimGEM Silvertip Badger Brush. Two passes and touch ups with the Gillette US Goodwill Razor and the Gillette Silver Blue Blade gave me a close, comfortable shave. After a cold water rinse I finished off with Humphrey's Witch Hazel and Aqua Velva 5 in 1 Balm. I am clean, smooth, and refreshed...

 

That's a great idea for someone who doesn't like the stick, also if you like the soap and want to turn half into a small puck for bowl lathering. Thank you for your excellent post.

Saturday morning’s Insane Grand Freeze:

Cool shower
Yaqi 30mm Barber Pole
Super Speed/Perma Sharp day 7
Stirling Glacial Obsidian SS
Diana Menthol Balm
Floid Vigoroso AS Splash

After using a setup like this it’s a miracle how my face didn’t disintegrate because the menthol was so intense. The Glacial Obsidian soap’s anise scent is so beautiful, the lather is amazing, it’s so slick which is so typical of Rod’s soaps, the freeze kicked in immediately, and the postshave care is numero uno. The Diana balm is from Austria and it’s pretty well unscented, it’s also loaded with frigid menthol not to mention how soothing it is. Finally the Floid Vigoroso aftershave went on with its delightful old school barbershop scent as well as a lulu menthol kick. Three passes knocked off my rough stubble and left me smooth as a baby’s little tukhis - what a cracker of a shave this was!
